Hi Lucy

His globulin is high which can be due to liver issues, infection, inflammation, or chronic or severe periodontal disease, cancer, or autoimmune disease.

High platelets are rare and might not have a significance but it can be due to iron deficiency and other things but his hematocrit and MCV are on the low side which you might expect to see with iron deficiency. Has he lost any blood? Are his poos black?

IBD and pancreatitis can also cause a high platelet count. You vet is going to have to solve what is going on.

More vines and hugs,
Thank you, Marje, for looking them over for me! Many (((hugs)))! ❤️:bighug:❤️:bighug:

Just a wee bit with one meal. Smokey got 1/4 tsp in every meal and miralax in both overnight meals. He was never constipated except once when I cut the miralax out.

Olive gets 1/4 tsp in breakfast only, she goes everyday but stands there for 5+ minutes waiting for it to get out. She does not strain it just doesn't move on its own.
I have a civvie, Vinnie, with a "slow system." He gets Miralax to keep things moving. He doesn't strain, either, but he vomits when things slow down. The Miralax keeps his system moving! Squallie may start the same regimen, now!

I'm so glad your vet found the issue! Now that dentist needs to step up and admit the mistake they made.

Constipation is no fun - may be TMI, but I am recovering from major surgery, and the pain meds stopped me up something fierce. I have total sympathy for Squallie. It is VERY uncomfortable. I didn't want to eat, either.

Cinco didn't like pumpkin, but he would eat baby food squash in his food, so that's how I kept him regular. Another trick to get things moving is a teaspoon of coconut or canola oil in his food.

Fluids should help, too.

Sending loads of good poo vines! Go, Squallie!
I wish I thought the dentist would step up! Doubtful that's going to happen. :(

Last time I was on serious pain meds they had the same effect on me; I was miserable. I hope you feel better soon, Tricia! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I never would have though of the baby food squash, I'll try that! I also bough coconut oil just for the cats, lol, so I have it on hand and can give that, too. :):) Thanks!:cat:

What a fantastic mom Squallie has! You made a lot of progress today. You have identified possible causes for what's going on with his mouth and his appetite and you have a game plan for next steps. A successful day! I hope you both sleep well!
Aww you're sweet to say that. I'm not feeling like a very good cat mom right now, with my poor baby still miserable. :( Thank you! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I wouldn’t give coconut oil. The jury is out as to whether the MCT structure is harmful to cats or not.

OMG, Lucy. I am just catching up, yesterday being one of those...
I’m glad Squallie back home but beyond distressed that you and Squallie have been through so much. That dang dental specialist needs a set-right and I hope that your vet who stepped in like a champ will give him the what fors and a good wake up and shake up.

Bo had an enema once (he was mega colon) and Azalea once had two in a week, each being quite the seniors In age, too. Bo bounced right back but it was harder on little Azalea. Fluids helped but I also added pumpkin or baby food squash (beechnut butternut squash or an organic one that was winter squash) to fuds. Another possible is 1/8-1/4 tsp oat bran (gluten-free if you can find it). It’s low glycemic and has nutrients that I found have helped motility and easy on the gi. SEB or MMR a possible too.
And liver shake or try some plain raw liver with the juices for nutrients and maybe help “unconstipate” (the recipe mentions that it can be diarhetic though I never saw that with my kittehs).

Vines vines and more vines for you and your sweet bot❤️❤️❤️
