just want to thankyou Julie for yesterdays info about new dose wonkiness ............or not as the case maybe!
that's good to know but it does seem to take him 6 cycles to settle into a dose even when reducing! its bizarre. but then he may take 3 days to clear a bounce.who knows!

anyway I just like to now would an eye infection cause his bg to rise? hes now on fucithalmic eye drops which are antibiotic. its like a serum/cream type substance so it doesn't go down to his throat and into his tummy.

Hi Anna,

Infections generally are a common cause of raised BG levels.

My Bertie had an infection very recently (a deep abcess in his side) and that threw his blood glucose levels up much higher than they'd normally be. He started drinking a lot of water too. But as the infection cleared his blood glucose suddenly dropped back into 'typical' numbers again.

Keeping fingers and paws crossed that Bailey feels better soon.

Any infection or inflammation can cause BG to rise. The antibiotic, though, is unlikely to have an effect on BG since it's an optical preparation.

my vets fab and knows what will cause bg to go up.hes prescribed this particular eye 'stuff' because its thick and will not go down into his tum! its good to know as his bg has risen more than it would on usual dose changes.
thanks guys for the info. all this caused by a bloomin moth flying into his eye! if idve caught the moth first it would have had more than an eye infection :-0
