Hello
Here is yesterday:

Something not so great today: Eddie has diarrhea and vomits. He is not all that interested in food, although I did get him to eat enough to give the shot this morning.

After he vomited earlier, I gave him a Cerenia tablet and all was well until he vomited again about 20 mins later. Not sure if he kept any of the Cerenia on board.

I'm getting anxious for two reasons: 1) Concern that Eddie won't want to eat (he had a little of his snack at AM +4) and b) if he won't eat, I can't leave to take Blue to Calgary.

@Wendy&Neko you asked if Eddie was succeeding in making me worry.

I hope Eddie straightens out soon. They have incredible timing and an uncanny ability to induce stress, don’t they? Sigh.

What about taking Eddie with you on the trip? I’d want to know there’s a vet at in Calgary who would see him on short notice if needed, but it might give you the ability to both keep Blue’s appointment and manage Eddie at the same time. That’s a last resort, of course, but sometimes the lesser of evils. For many years I had “tag alongs” whenever I went to the university vet school because I had to “keep the wheels on” my other medical cases.

Hang in there.

Hi JL.
It's really not an option to take Eddie. While there might be a vet in Calgary in short notice, it there's anything really wrong, we'd be hooped.

Right now, I had to syringe feed him even though he seemed interested in food. At first he just licked the food and then sat there as he has done before in the past. I have this awful feeling we are headed for the clinic tonight.

Update: I took Eddie to the clinic. When I gave him the shot I could feel he was quite dehydrated and I totally recognized the symptoms as being the same as what happened to him on June 10th. So, he's on intravenous fluids, will be given a Cerenia injection and Gabapentin to smooth him out so they can take a urine sample. The vet rightly described his demeanour tonight as quite "spicy". Eddie was totally annoyed after the syringe feeding and he is not speaking to me. They may give him some antibiotics with regards his teeth. As the vet put it, when they have dental problems and infection they are also swallowing bacteria so they get an upset stomach.

I had a feeling we were heading in this direction when his BG started to go up after all those nice numbers...
