Please does anyone have any advice on what is going with Martini? Was I steered wrong generally with the increase back to 1.25 and that's why she is giving me such high #'s? Have I been giving her too much insulin?? :( She used to be a lot lower in general. I just hate that I keep 'hurting' her despite my own best efforts. There must be some reason for the very high AMPS and higher PMPS #'s right?
I was going to shoot 1.00 this morning, but as usual, I shake when she is so high in the morning and did a FS (very close to a Finger Shot). I didn't want to leave her with no shot as it seems depot is not working correctly either, so I did a .50 shot that was good. I know we're not supposed to, but I was sure the initial shot did not get into her. I would NEVER hurt her on purpose.
Thank you so much,
Sandy

Sorry you've had a bad start to the day, I understand why you gave the 0.5u, but as you can't be sure if you got anything into Martini, the safest thing to do is to just skip a shot, please try and get a test in the early part of the cycle this morning (before +6, just in case she got more than you think she did)

I think this morning you may be seeing a bounce, from some lower numbers on 7/24 in the morning, see how she started the day at 279 and by +9 she was at 187. With Lantus, most cats will nadir earlier than +9, usually around +5/+6, so that makes me wonder how low she went, as it looks like the 187 is Martini on her way back up. Now that doesn't mean that she was dangerously low, just that she was lower than her body is used to, and that triggered a bounce, the pink you saw this morning.

Bounces can last up to 6 cycles, so don't be surprised if her numbers are highish for a couple of days. However, don't be complacent either, as cat's can clear bounces more quickly. It looks to me like Martini, might be clearing her bounces a little quicker, possibly 4 cycles. So I would look to her clearing the bounce tomorrow morning, that said with the fur shot and the additional 0.5u you gave, her depot will also have to settle so that migh mess with things a wee bit.

I think what would be helpful is to try and get a +3 in the morning cycle, if your schedule allows it. If you are unable to get a +3 because you have to leave for work, getting a +1 would also provided some helpful data.

I'm absolutely sure it was a miss, have just done +6 and it's 13.1.
What should I be shooting? 1.00? 1.25?? I don't think I will ever get used to these bounces.
Thank you so much for the input!

I'd stick with the 1.25u for now.

Well at least he is out of the pinks for now.
Try to not let the bounces bug you, they are part of the process.

As you are following SLGS, you would look to hold the dose for a week now, unless he drops below 90, run a curve at the end of the week to see where his numbers are at before making the next dosing decision.
