J.D. peed a little this morning, but that was it. After his first breffis, I took the cats outside for a bit, and he acted pretty normal. I think, though, that he kind of wants to flee, because I think he might know he's headed for the vet.

He just finished his second breffis. He has also had lots of treats throughout the night and this morning. I think I slept a total of an hour and a half.

I'm going to work now, early, so I can get an early morning appointment hopefully, and come back home to take him in.

Wish us luck, please.

Good morning,Dyana!
I wish You all the luck at the vet this am!
I have to leave with my DH for treatment now!

Re: 07/05 J.D. AMPS 417

Dyana, I am sorry if I caused you upset. I am sorry I had to leave you hanging, but I thought the link Jill provided would give you some good information too. It just seems this has been going on for a while. First the diarrhea, then the constipation, then hard poo?

I am glad you were able to get hold of the ER vet last night and discuss the situation. Do you think it is possible the Bio-Sponge supplement he was given by your parent's vet might be interfering?

I hope your vet can suggest something to get J.D. regular again... ohmygod_smile

Good luck with the vet J.D.

Re: 07/05 J.D. AMPS 417

I am at work. I couldn't get a vet appointment until 4:45pm.
So, I called my neighbor/pet sitter to check on him, and she said he looks good. Eyes are bright and he's wandering around. She used to work in nursing, so she is a good one to check on him.
She also said that nothing was in the litter box.

Back to work...

Hi Dyana,

Paws crossed.

Re: 07/05 J.D. AMPS 417

if they give an enema, ask for the catheter so you can give your own warn soap suds enema at home. does not have to be sterile. just needs to be lubricated

Re: 07/05 J.D. PMPS 337 nothing wrong with J.D.

J.D.'s regular vet did a thorough exam and found nothing wrong with J.D.
He showed me where J.D.'s colon is and how to feel it. It was not hard.

I did pick some poo out of the litter box as I headed to the vet and put them in a baggie. Not sure which cat pooed, but one stool was rather large and hard at one end and kind of hard putty like the rest of it. I suspect that one was J.D.'s just because of the size of it. J.D. did a quick little pee just before we left for the vet, too. I have also worried about his pee amount has not been that much for a couple weeks.

When my neighbor came over to check on J.D. this afternoon, she said he felt a little "solid" in the belly. He did feel a little more bloated to me this afternoon, when I got home from work. I had the vet expell some pee (after he checked the colon area for hardness) and he said his bladder was a little full, but it came out nice and easy.

He said if he doesn't poo in 2 or 3 days, then to call him.

He told me (which he's said before) that J.D. was "creeky" in the hind end (in his hips and knees).
He said to go ahead and keep giving 1/8 tsp. of Miralax a day just to keep the stool soft (so I'll give that at night)
and 1 capsule of Cosequin a day to help lubricate his joints (I'll give that in the morning), and to brush his teeth or get some enzematic (sp?) toothpaste or spray and give it to him everyday, and he said the trick is to use it everyday.

He said he did not have megacolon, or ostipation (sp?). J.D. was very relaxed and kind of stretching out during the entire exam (J.D. is always good for the vet, but he seemed exceptionally good and relaxed today while he was getting prodded and pushed on).

That's all.
I think I'd like to go to sleep, now...... but it's too early.

Re: 07/05 J.D. PMPS 337 nothing wrong with J.D.

so glad all is well. spot get 1/4 tsp miralax BID and his poo is still on the hard side. just an FYI

Re: 07/05 J.D. PMPS 337 nothing wrong with J.D.

Thanks Dian. :-D

I guess I should have said: "nothing wrong with J.D. but creeky joints and glucose in his urine."
The vet did one of those 10 (or so) urine test strips and all was well there, too, except the glucose.
My vet said "I wish there was something I could bad mouth you about, but there is nothing". "Welcome back."

Re: 07/05 J.D. PMPS 337 nothing wrong with J.D.

I'm glad the vet thinks all is good. Now, tell J.D. either he poos or he eats prunes! (No steak or shrimp!)

Re: 07/05 J.D. PMPS 337 nothing wrong with J.D.

Glad there's nothing wrong, and hope things are returning to normal.

We use the Virbac CET products for our dog, so the rinse in her drinking water gets shared with the cats. If you want to try those I found the best prices through Amazon.com, often EntirelyPets.com supplying them.

Well, happy to read J.D. is OK...?

Now...J.D...did you poo before you went to the vet? Are you going to get back to normal and stop stressing your bean and this forum out with the poo escapades!

We loves you both a lot...and we are sorry if we caused you all some distress...and a vetty visit.

Re: 07/05 J.D. PMPS 337 nothing wrong with J.D.

Glad to hear the good news !

Next time BK has a check up, I'm going to ask his vet to teach me how to feel whatever organs I can feel on BK. . .

C'mon now JD. . .

I just had to post. This is the nicest number in a long time. I just fed him his 3rd dinner.
btb. I'll try to set an alarm to wake up at +8.5, but I can not guarantee I will wake up to it.
