J.D. was blue most of yesterday afternoon, with a low of 139 (that I tested). He was feeling fine and happy this morning, when we went for a long walk (at 5:00am) and we stayed out until 6:00am (AMPS) so I could get some pictures of the sunrise. Today it is supposed to be thunder and lightning (which isn't that common in the summer, here).
Last Wednesday, J.D. had very liquid diarreha. On Thursday morning, I took him to the vet and he was put on Clindamycin and Bio-Sponge. The diarreha cleared up that night, and the next day he did a normally formed although somewhat wet around the edges poo (that was Friday), then he didn't poo at all, even though he has been eating more than his normal amount of food (probably because he's bored), until yesterday (Monday) when he had one small very hard turd. I gave him 1/8 teaspoon of Miralax last night and 1/8 teaspoon of Miralax this morning. Still no poo.
In past years, he has had days where he didn't poo, here, at my dad's house for awhile, and in the past I have gotten a bunch of dirt and put it in the center of my dad's gravel around his lawn, and he has pooed there. J.D. was sniffing around the gravel today, but there is not longer any dirt there, so I asked my dad where there was some dirt I could use, and he said behind the motor home. I took a shovel and loosened some dirt up and took J.D. back there, but he was just too frightened to do anything but try to get away and go back in the house (to his closet, where it's safe (to him)). So he didn't poo, maybe tonight, I'll try back there again. I had asked my dad if he put any poison back there, because there are no weeds growing, and he said no, but I didn't trust him and my cat comes first, so after going in the dirt, I filled the big basen tub in the laundry room up with warm water intending to wash J.D.'s feet off. I had about 4 inches of water in it. I put J.D. in and he sat down  . Silly kitty. He just sat in the water. In the past, I would have bled... He is just so used to being poked and prodded, and everything, that he just let's me do anything to him.
Anyway, does anyone have any more ideas about how to get him to poo? I try to walk him in the early morning, as much as I can, as that is the only time he feels comfortable and safe walking is when there are no humans (but me) up and about.
I have been sprinkling FortiFlora on his food because of the antibiotics, and it will occasionally stop him up.
I still have some pumkin left, but I bought that for when he had diarreha, and I don't know if pumkin will also help to move the stuff out of him.
I have heard of people giving vaseline for hairballs, so I put just a little in J.D.'s mouth just now.
Anything else I can try?
Blood in urine: When I originally took J.D. to the vet, the vet said he had blood in his urine, and she said a lot of it.
When I called the vet on Friday to find out if the culture had grown anything, the receptionist or technician said there was no blood in the urine. When I finally talked to the vet last night, I told her of this, and she said he did have blood in his urine and a lot of it (last Thursday). She said sometimes the needle for the C&S will go through a blood vessel, sometimes they will have blood in their urine from stress, sometimes it's a bladder infection, etc. Last night she said the culture was definitely negative (she wanted to wait the whole 48 hours for it to grow something, so we waited from Thursday to Monday). She said to try to bring in another urine sample.
So, this morning at 6:00am, when we came in from out walk, he peed in his box, and I got a sample and put it immediately in the frig, and we took it to the vet at about 10:30am this morning. The vet said there is no blood in the urine. The only thing that showed up was glucose.
The vet is supposed to call me back tonight around 6:00pm (PMPS) and hopefully, he has pooed by then.
My sister is waiting to go antiquing with me, so I gotta go. Sorry, I am not visiting many condos, and have so many questions.
I'll check in when we get back, to see if anyone has any suggestions for me (us).
Thanks and I hope everyone is having a good day.
