Hi LL:

Well, tonight I'm not only a bean for an OTJ kitty but also a proud Grandmom. My Grandson is at Olympic Trial and has placed in the top 50 again. He has one more event to swim on Friday. He is an awesome kid. He will graduate from college (5 year program) in December. He has been to NCAA's all four years of his college career and placed. He is a High School All American, in college he is an Honor Athlete, Captain of the Swim Team, Community Volunteer and representative to the Athletic/Athlete Committee. He is coached by my son, who has 3 other swimmers at the Trials.

I got to see him swim last year at University of Florida for Sectionals. It was funny, he thanked me for coming and I congratulated him on making finals and he ask would I stay. I told him I would stay and he said, " Great, I'll swim faster" and he did. Meets are too far normally for me to go but luckily most are available via live feed on the net. I just had to share this with all of you. I'm very proud of both of them and their accomplishments. Swimming has been a great sport for the whole family. My son is a Master Builder and gave it up to coach. He loves the sport and wanted to give back to the sport.

Another bit of good news is a friend (Missy) coaches the Paralympic Dressage Team. She is an awesome woman, incredible instructor and fantastic person. Her student, Becca Hart, is the National Para-Eqestrian Champion for the 5th time and off to London for the Olympics. Becca is an incredible young woman. She does it all her moto is,
"Adapt and Overcome". Becca has familial spastic paraplegia. The riders are grouped according to disability and Becca is a Grade II para-rider. Grade 1(a) through Grade IV, with Grade 1 being the most handicapped. It is amazing what they can do with such limitations.

Sometimes there is so much sadness I thought perhaps some of my happiness was worth sharing. Have a great night thanks for letting me share.

Congrats Barbara! You must be proud of him! Thanks for sharing the joy & happiness with us!
Wish him all the luck to have the best result on Friday!

Woohoo! Congratulations to your grandson on a wonderful accomplishment! That is so sweet that he said he would swim faster because you were there. :-D And congrats to Missy and Becca! Good luck in London! We'll be watching.

Hi Barbara,
What a great report. Congrats to your grandson (and of course to his coach)! We're wishing him lots of good luck for his swim on Friday. This is really exciting news! Becca sounds like an awesome athlete.

Thanks for brightening today!

Scritches to Tuffy and hugs to you,

Ella & Rusty

Clearly, the feel good condo is this one. What incredible dedication your grandson and son have, to say nothing of Missy and Becca. To train the way people must train to reach that level of skill is an accomplishment. Best of luck to them all.

Thanks so much for sharing. Being part of the swimming community I can so relate to the dedication and commitment that the sport takes. Congrats to Peter and all that he has accomplished. Absolutely fantastic. Definitely a feel good condo.

I am so taken back by the accomplishments of Becca, and Missy - truly outstanding women. Well done ladies!

I'll be on the lookout for Becca and her coach Missy in the Paralympic Village. I will be working with wheelchair rugby, classifying, or putting athletes in classes to complete like Becca's class for paraequestrian. I know I'll be at the Equestrian venue one day for a meeting. The PV is a small world so chances are good! Congratulations, Olympic/Paralympic years are my favorite times of year!!!
