Yesterday's Condo

Last Night:
187 PMPS
152 +5.5

I know I should have tested him more (like around nadir), but I didn't.
He didn't eat a whole lot last night, and only ate part of his 1st Breffis, and then wanted to go outside.
So, I decided to let them go outside first, in case there was any eating grass and pukus, and then once they come in, I'll give J.D. his meds, and add some cypro if I think he needs it.

I am hoping to go btb, but maybe it won't happen.

This is MaMa's baby (I think), so I call "him" Baby. He is very innocent, and comes right up to me (and the cats)

He actually put both his paws on the back of J.D.'s shoulder, when I held up a peanut.


Then J.D. got up and chased him into the bushes :lol:

Look at that nice AMPS!

I can't believe Baby gets so close to you and the kitties. At least by J.D. chasing away Baby, it will train Baby that not all kitties will be safe to come right up to them.

Ginger is pretty much trained not to chase the squirrels. I allow J.D. to (which confuses Ginger, I think) because he only walks fast or trots after them. I did have a neighbor freaking out because a squirrel was walking right up to her, and she thought squirrels were supposed to run away from humans :lol: We have at least one mama squirrel making new babies because she's constantly gathering dried grass to replenish her nest.

So, J.D. is going to keep me home for awhile, today. All I have to do is go buy pill pockets and Pepcid.
J.D. did eat all his 2nd Breffis at +1.5 and has had a bunch of steak for treats. He seems to like to gnaw on frozen slices.

I just don't understand why he's going down so early, as nadir for Levemir is usually around +4.

Looks like it could be a busy morning.

Are you sure you want J.D. hanging out with squirrels? I hope his shots are up to date.

He got Fvrcp and Rabies 1 year Merial Purvax on June 04, 2011. Is that good enough?

I just gave him some LC and he acts like he doesn't even see it and walks right past it and keeps following me, unless I sprinkle something on top. He ate most of it :roll: I'll try some MC, now.

I mixed a tablespoon of HC with what was left in his bowl, and he ate that.

I know what you mean .....that low number on levemir at that hour usually makes me give Shadow HC. It is a long time until nadir! Usually when he is not eating a whole lot is when the number doesn't go up too easily. It is a busy Saturday for you and J.D.....higher greens are nice too J.D....give your Mama a break!!

This is just weird. And I'm getting a little nervous, and I'm starting of thinking about the vet being open right now..
I need support.

you will be fine, just keep testing and feeding. gravy instead of food if you have it. can always try honey on the gums or a lick or two

Before I saw your post, I opened a new can of HC and tried to use the can top to squeeze the gravy out, and a bunch of food with I guess a bunch of gravy came out and J.D. ate it all up. I barely saw what came out, because I guess I'm not focusing, or his big head was in the way.

breathe. you have all the tools you need. do not want him to fill up on food, you can give ice cream also.

15 min. may not be long enough for the carbs to get into J.D.'s system.

If you're really nervous and gravy isn't doing the trick, use a drop or two of Karo. I do this routinely with Gabby since gravy gives her the runs. I havd the same scenario with Gabs yesterday.

No Advice, sorry, I always have EVO dry food on hand in cases like this because
I know the dry food brings him up and keeps him up longer than wet food
Just here for some support
Everything will be ok, especially if he just ate some HC wet food

Can you go get me some vanilla ice cream? All I have is Rocky Road.

I just took one of his old time favorites from years ago: Friskies Prime Filets with Salmon and Beef in Sauce 19% carbs, and took the lid and squeezed again a bunch of gravy with a bunch of food came out and went in the bowl and J.D. was right there sucking it up.

I have a couple Fancy Feast HC cans left and just stocked up on Friskies HC (that I was thinking I could make MC with).

I interupted his bath time for this last test.

Yay, I got him into the 40s. I just gave him one of Ginger's Whisker Lickins treats :oops: for putting up with all the tests.

It's just that nadir is like +8.5 or +9.

Thanks for being here for me ladies. I'm sorry, I'm a little teary eyed and scared. But, I'm feeling better, now. :YMHUG:

It;s funny though, because I know you can walk anyone through a hypo situation
calmly and keeping everyone else calm, but when it happens to you
you seem to lose that sense of calmness and panic, no matter how many times
it has happened!

Just give some more HC to bump him into the 50s and then you can start testing every 30 min. I guess J.D. was tired of this dose.

He is on his way up so that is a good thing,
I am sorry I have to run out, but stay strong, he is fine...
and probably so very happy that he is getting his old time favorites!

I can lower to a 0.50, but I don't think that's enough. His latest dose was a just a hair of the 0.50 line showing above the plunger.

I need to go out and buy a magnifying glass or get another pair of glasses ;-) . I'm guessing, I'll have to go to a skinny 0.50.

I am holding off on more HC for now, because he's a bouncer. I'm afraid he'll go sky high..

Not very carb sensitive, is he?

Thank goodness he did this on a day you can be home tho, huh? Definitely earned his dose decrease today I'd say! Can't help you much w/the dosing amount tho.

Everyone is right tho Dyana, breathe. You are always coaching others thru this kind of thing, you can handle this. You are an experienced caregiver. I know tho it's so hard when it's your own kitty you just automatically panic. But you know what to do. And you know the people on this board are here for you. Under your care, as always, J.D. will be fine.

I'm sorry, I panicked :oops: It's embarrassing.
It's just that he's on Levemir. His onset is at +4. I don't know why he's been coming down at +2 lately, like he's on Lantus. And then the HCing and he kept going down anyway. Big Breath. Thanks for being here, for me :-D

Since he's still 49, after the test, we were still sitting on the couch and I had the half finished can of HC on the coffee table. I gave J.D. some cat treats for the test, and then offered him the HC, and he wrapped his front paw around the can to pull it to his face and sucked most of it down. :-D He now has gravy all over his face :lol: a spot on his white nose, some on his white cheeks, and a ring of brown on his white forehead. Ginger will like to lick his face.

reminds me when francine visited when cameron was just born. she had a can of formula and she opened it to mix some up. candy stuck her face in the can and had a huge circle of white. she knocked it off before i could get the camera. francine and I had a good laugh on that. she looked like she had white pancake makeup on

You are doing great Dyana...as always! Moonie surprised me when I tested late with a 54--Guess no matter how long you are here, a low number is a low number & we can control it..Just that a 30's number makes you stand at attention @-) @-) --You did a great job..You know I use temptations as they give a good boost & linger for several hours, with not a lot of bounce..but only like 5 tiny ones at a time..with mc food.
Guess we all have our ways.

I gave J.D. his dose about 10 minutes early. I was on my way to get Pepcid and pill pockets and ran out of time, because I decided at the last minute to shop for the magnifying glass instead and then didn't want to be late for his shot.

Of course, he didn't want anything to do with his dinner. Earlier, I tried offering him a piece of steak as a treat and he refused it. He got spoiled on that HC all morning. He just went down into the dark basement, where it's cooler.
I think I'm going to the pool for a swim.
