In Canada, don't bother buying the pens. There is something called a cartridge, also available in 5 packs. It is a pen refill, costs less, and less waste. There is a picture of a cartridge in the Sticky Note about Insulin Care. Also, don't buy at Marks Marine. They are cost savings for folks from the US, but way more expensive than any pharmacy over the counter in Canada.

Lovely cycle today. :D

Ohh that sucks … was all excited to get a good deal :(

Thanks !!!!! I’m sooo proud of her !!!! Just wondering what to do tonight … won’t be able to stay up all night …

Lololol I was saying same thing … it’s a beautiful day everyone must be out and about … and yes she’s been surfing between 72-90 all day.. and it’s shot time

They reminded me this morning that I can shoot the full amount as long as his number is over 50 (which is very scary to me) but this is only if he can be monitored. If you aren't able to check him overnight, I hope someone else can jump on here to guide you. :/

I will check +3 and *6 do you think that’s enough? And I’ll feed!!! Here goes nothing !! I shot this morning in green too ! First time lol!! So I guess it’s go big or go home!!! Lol sure wish they would confirme but it’s 25 mins passed my time !! Wish me luck !!!!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Great job. Sorry I was asleep! 5am for me. Make sure you test at +1. Do you have higher carb food on you? What do you have?

Ok. She is heading up. Bouncing. Get some sleep! :)
What do you do for feeds in the PM cycle? Auto-feeder?
No I wish but with 2 cats it’s kinda hard !! I usually feed both a 1/3 can each but money is tricky !!! She’s eats all the food like there’s no tmr and then try to hit up the other bowl !!!! FAT BUTT ! and also I realized with all these tbsp during the day she’s eating way more then suppost too … I think she even gained 1/2 pound :(

Roxanne, forgive me if I am butting in here - I am trying to get more involved and catch up on people's stories...
As far as Lantus insulin in Canada goes, what I have found so far is that Costco has the best (cheapest) price.
I checked with Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws (our Atlantic Superstore) and other local chains.
Costco was the cheapest of them all.
I dunno if Jean Coutu or another Quebec chain might be cheaper, but it is worth making a few phone calls.
And, you do not have to be a member of Costco to use their pharmacy services.

I know this site uses the word "pens" but if you tell them you are looking for the cartridges for a Lantus pen, the pharmacist will know what you want.
As Wendy said, the cartridges are sold in a 5 pack.
For a human using a pen, that is a decent amount.
For a cat owner, that is a LOT.

I will add that the last time I needed insulin, I did buy one cartridge from my vet at an exorbitant cost of around $60 rather than five cartridges from Costco of just over $100 (I think) because travel to the city to get to Costco was restricted, and seeing as we had no Covid cases down here, and there were lots in Halifax, saving $40 or $50 but exposing myself to Covid seemed a little dumb....

I wish I had kept my research on Costco pricing, but I tossed it after I realized I wasn't going to be allowed to go into the city for months.
But they definitely had the cheapest price on supplies - insulin, syringes, etc.
The best thing is take a half hour and call around, but Costco is hard to beat on a lot of things in their pharmacy.
I think their pricing is pretty universal across the country, not including provincial sales taxes, of course.
And Quebec is the home of Costco Canada, so who knows? Maybe you have the best prices?

I am a bad one to talk to about meters because I'm on the expensive route.
I started with a One Touch Ultra, then one time when I had a meter issue and called One Touch, they sent me a new One Touch Verio Reflect.
The Ultra doesn't need much blood, the Verio even less, and I actually prefer using the Verio except that you cannot choose what type of measurement it does - the one they mailed me is preset for mmol/L only.
I always have to convert to mg/dL talk to people here.... while my vet thinks in mmol/L.
The Ultra can be programmed to read out in either scale: mg/dL or mmolL.

The things with these meters in Canada is that you get the meter for free from pharmacies when you buy the strips, but the strips are expensive.
I buy my strips on seniors day (55+) to get the a discount, and the cheapest price I can get locally in my one-horse town is $61.60 for 100.
Costco is cheaper I have no doubt.

I know Americans talk about a Walmart brand with super cheap strips but I don't think Walmart Canada carries them, as far as I know.
I might be wrong.
I'm sure greater minds will set us straight. lol.
