So with that good BG, she still got her shot?

Getting in tests between now and +6 will help you see how low this dose is taking her. Since she was flat from AMPS to +2, it might mean a drop later, like what happened last night at +4, but you're starting today 18 points lower than last night's PMPS number, so keep a watchful eye on her. :)

You can try to find cheaper strips on Ebay. I used to use a Contour Next and they were much less expensive there. Not sure how it would be in Canada though.

+5/72 !! What a beautiful day !! :D:bighug: Will give a 1/4 can again . And just to be sure I need to include all these 1/4 cans in diet right ?

I’ve never used a pen … is it the sAme as a vial and why would it go bad ?? I store it in fridge .. and the exp date is in a year …
You can use the pens like vials. Generally the 10 ml vial will go bad before you can use the entire thing on a cat. It may expire in a year, but once you start using it, generally it needs to be used sooner than that.

It’ll probably be good for several months. But still, most cats don’t have doses high enough that will be able to use a whole vial before one of these things happen. So you end up throwing some away. A single will likely be used up before it can get to this point. Many people here buy a box of 5 pens and that lasts them the year, since the unopened pens will keep longer than an open vial will.

The article I linked lists ways to tell if it’s not good:
  • It’s cloudy or it has changed color
  • There are clumps or stringy bits in the vial
  • Your cat is not responding to the insulin as well as they used to
So just keep an eye on it. Maybe write on the bottle the day you opened it if you haven’t already.

I’m not saying you can’t use this. We’re just making recommendations for your next batch so the insulin doesn’t get wasted. We know it’s expensive.

She's too adorable :cat:
Beautiful surfing today!
Next time you need lantus you can get it at Marks Marine Pharmacy in Canada, you will save tons of money, Most members buy from them. Check out their web site
I suggest you buy the 5 pack of the solostar pens. You would use it like the vial you have now, take the too off of the pen and you will see a grey rubber stopper, then you would insert your syringe in there, outrageous what you paid for your vial Hope this helps
They will last you for almost a year, depending on the dose you are shooting.
Plus the other 4 pens which you are not using will stay good until the expiration date , which is probably 2022 or 2023,
