06/17 Tiggy PMPS 128 Cookie has cancer :(

i think I am losing it. Tiggy is no longer walking. He meows whenever he wants something ..and its like a baby trying to work out what.. food, LB, on the sofa, off the sofa. He is not even 10 yet.


And then my beautiful civie Cookie. Only 14 and so full of life... and the laceration under her tongue is cancer after all. She can't eat hard food or anything with pieces in now and she is so dirty on her face. She was always so clean and shiny. So now we pulverize her food and she probably has weeks left before the mass is so big she can't move her tongue to eat. She is happy right now but for how long?

Bailey with his diabetes, hyperthyroid, EPI and kidney failure seems the healthiest of the lot at 16.

I can't cope with this. So unfair on them. And us.

It's awful when they start to get older and everything seems to happen at the same time, and Tiggy really should be in the prime of life

Cancer just plain sucks at any age, but if Cookie is still feeling good, enjoy as many good days as you can and hold them close

I understand how you feel. I think I told you that all four of my kitties were diagnosed with cancer last year. Each one was another straw on the camel's back and I wasn't sure how it was going to hold up. It's still unbroken, but it is weakened. All I can do is reinforce what the others have said. Treasure each moment, do your best to make them comfortable, and listen to them. They will let you know when they have had enough.

Syringe feeding sounds like a good idea for Cookie. As long as she is not suffering, you can keep her loving little self with you longer.

Thanks everyone. Syringe feeding isn't an option for her, she is a very nervous cat and would hate it, and us. I don't want her last days to be like that. But she is only eating maybe 1 can of FF a day at most and she is down to 9lbs from 10lbs in a month. Not skinny yet but another month and she will be, if she lasts that long.

Today she spent most of her day snoozing under my desk. Which is nice to hear. Apart from appetite she is happy right now. Maybe she has a week or two at the rate the tumour is growing. Day by day is right....

Unfortunately you the one who have to be strong for all of you; Do what you do the best, just love them, spend as much time with them what you can and stored those great stories for the future beautiful memories.
