I finally heard back from DCIN they need a copy of Panzer's insulin prescription. I talked to his current vet that's 30mins away this morning & told him I needed a copy of Panzers insulin prescription & also asked him for more Cerenia & mirtaz for Panzer & Spook. So we are stocked on medicine & I've got what I need for DCIN.

I took Panzer to the new vet today, & they turned him away. They said he was to complicated of a patient for them! I couldn't believe it, so back to the other vet we go! He has an appointment next Wednesday to get tested for pancreatitis, until then it's Cerenia & mirtaz.

I started transitioning Panzer & Spook from fancy feast over to weruva on Sunday. They are eating half & half of each as of today. Hopefully that will make them feel better & start eating on there own. My question about food is. Do I transition them slowly to a second flavor of weruva like I did the first flavor or just give it to them once I get them on 100% weruva? So far they are eating BFF play best buds chicken & beef mixed with beef fancy feast. I also have BFF play chicken checkmate for them, I was going to mix that with chicken fancy feast. Should I do that or just give them the chicken one alone once they are completely switched over to weruva? They both love it. Panzer always licks his bowl clean & trys to take Spooks. Spook likes it but has to be coaxed by AMPS feeding probably because the mirtaz is wearing off, hopefully I can get him into the vet soon as well.https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...8-still-not-feeling-good.264256/#post-2961769

Good grief. I can't believe that. You think they would have asked you questions first to see if they thought Panzer was a cat that they could help. I just can't think what's wrong with a vet who thinks they cannot help a cat with diabetes and possible pancreatitis. Lots of cats get pancreatitis. I'd really like to rant and rave about this, but it won't do any good. You will be better off with the other vet if this is the case. I'm sorry this happened. Maybe they're just a dog-focused vet or something. I just don't get it!

As for the food. It's always a good idea to transition slowly to new foods with cats. I would take at least a few days to transition to a new flavor.

I would just use the one flavor until using the new food 100%. Then try the next flavor to make sure there aren’t any intestinal issues. Sorry the vet turned you away but it’s good if that vet can’t handle cats that are diabetic and have pancreatitis. Both are pretty darn common. It’s good you got what you need for DCIN.

We cross posted but fortunately gave the same answer. :bighug:

Well they started talking about doing a curve & a fructosamine & I pulled out my phone & showed them his spreadsheet & that there was no need for that! They then left the room & came back in & said sorry he's to complicated of a patient! My thoughts were they weren't going to make any $ off of him. It's a sad sad world that there are so many vets that only care about money!

Okay I will do that. Yes & the fundraiser I had going credited the $110 to Panzers vet account. So that's a little help for our upcoming appointment.

I suspect your thoughts are correct! Mine too.

You know, that is very odd. You actually got in there with Panzer and showed them your spreadsheet and they left the room and came back and rejected you? Unbelievable. I think you may be right about them thinking they could not make money? It's possible. Or they don't like to have a well-informed client in their office (kind of a related thing). They want to have a client who will say yes and pay for whatever they recommend. Don't give up. We will help you, and perhaps, if you need to find another vet at some point, you will. this one wasn't the right one. In the meantime, you can try to work with the current vet.

I think your exactly right. At least the vet I'm with now is on the same page & is actually impressed with my knowledge plus they are & have definitely made money off of both of the boys! When I spoke with the vet this morning he asked how his #s were & I told him they were pretty much in the 200s & he said well I had hoped the change to Lantus would get him to where he needed to be. I said I think it will once we figure out if he has pancreatitis & he's feeling better, he agreed with me. So I think he really does care, maybe he's just been super busy & that's why I haven't seen or heard from him personally. We will stick with him & the true help all of you that help me with Panzer & Spook on here! Thank you all so much you are our saviors :bighug:

Panzer is at a whopping 377. He helped himself to some honey nut cheerios that I had in a baggie in my purse while I was in the shower :banghead: little brat!

Yes I do, he was even sleeping on his back all comfy & he doesn't mind me touching his stomach or picking him up. I'm wondering if I should even test for pancreatitis? Maybe just do an exam? I stopped the Mirataz on his ear. He hasn't had any since +2 @ AMPS yesterday. I'm going to try & stop it with Spook tomorrow.

Panzer ate all of his meals or should I say he smashed them, no mirataz. He's definitely feeling good he tried to eat plastic that I missed from my TV dinner, I literally had to chase him before he ate it, he had it in his mouth & I haven't had any peace while eating without him trying to smack my spoon. My hands a little tore up from testing so I think I will where gloves tomorrow :arghh:Him & Spook were running around chasing each other after this last meal. Spook has still been eating slow but finishing. I may still do mirtaz for him one more day:cat:
