gosh, where do I start! we are still waiting on the next lot of tests from the lab for muscular issues and other things.
hes on no medication at the mo but I had to lower his dose due to lowering his food intake.the vet said hes put on 0.7kg in 6 weeks! I guess its been my fault really cos ive been encouraging him to eat when numbers are in the blue and im going to work and worrying but vet said to leave him to go and get it of his own accord with him being a grazer he will and today even on 8.5u ive got a shock.

ive had to skip the dose cos it was 4 hours after shot time where I would've felt comfortable shooting but then its how id get it back from 4pm to 12noon as that's my lunch hour times.im in work tomorrow on a 9-5pm so thered b no way I could get back and do it for 3.30pm.

what a roller coaster this is!

Re: 06/14 Bailey uk.had to skip shot!

good call anna - you did the right thing.

that ambg of 90 this morning is just over 50 on a human meter, and since you weren't going to be able to monitor, it was safest to skip.

he'll get back on track. it's too bad, because it might've helped flatten him out if you could've shot low, but you have to think safety first. In the future, if you're going to be home and he gives you a low preshot, try shooting it and see if his overall range comes down. Often shooting low brings everything down.

your subject line for today with the skipped shot would be

6/14 Bailey ambg 90

I cant understand it Julie.even 7 hours on with NO insulin he still only on 135!?! thank goodness I didn't give him a shot. hes eaten a good dinner too. a normal good sized lot of chicken and feline complete about 2 hours ago. its very strange!

remember Lantus is a depot insulin - think timed release. That's one of its best features. A shot last night will keep on giving hours after you skipped this morning's shot. The size of the depot is directly related to the size of the dose, so a bigger dose can often be skipped without much difference showing up in the BGs at first.

Here's some info that explains it: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=150

yep thanks Julie.so tomorrow will probably hit him like a ton of bricks!!! I have to tell you.whenever hes in the green,he lethargic, off his food.not wanting cuddles.no doubt his body is so use to high numbers.i came home tonight to a 344 but hes better in himself! snuggly etc.. its crazy!
