Well, where do I start? It is one year since we started the OTJ trial. Tuffy is still Tuffy. She still likes the low numbers, is still demanding and has an array of antics that never stop. She will remove shoe laces from my shoes, dump the laundry basket, open the patio door if I don’t keep it locked and always insists on helping me with my exercises by sitting on my chest when I do sit-ups. I have watched her OTJ video several times and still cry when watching it. Thank you D. It was truly beautiful.
I have had 9 diabetic kitties. All were prior to LL, home testing, etc. My other kitties were on Ultra Lente. With Tuffy it took me about 8 months to find the Board. What a blessing that was. Our special Beans held my hand when she would dive. She loved the 20s and 30s. I remember when we started the trial, Libby said, Barb, she can’t surf the 30s. The rest is history.
I read condos and see some of the frustration and feel for you for going through it. I can only remember being told “one day it will happen, the bouncing will stop”, and It did. I have included a few of the posts we received along the way. I hope they encourage you as they did me.
ahhh sorry my friend, no cat has ever gotten OTJ without drama along the way. and if she keeps going like she is, that is where this is most likely headed. you're always in control, don't worry. tuffy doesn't.
agree with jill totally. need to let a dose show what it can do, can't react to higher PS with more insulin on lantus. either the straight or fat 2.0 units sounds good to me too.
the great news though is that she sure wants to be green now. that is a good thing.

You are all in excellent hands here in LL. Without them I don’t know what would have happened to Tuffy. She had worked her way up to 10u bid with the vet. I did not test frequently when I first started posting. I was gone for 11 ½ hours daily. I remember the first day she went from 433 to 27 in 3 hours. Another day I shot 80 AMPS with 3u per the vet. I was a newbie. Luckily, without ill effects. It took me about 3 ½ weeks to get with the program. We went down in dose only to go back up on more than one occasion. I learned that Tuffy was carb sensitive so I did not use HC very often. I truly never expected OTJ it was a gift from the guidance I received here in LL. I had hope for a regulated safe kitty and got a bonus.
Thank you is not sufficient. There are no words to express my gratitude for all we received here and the wonderful caring people we have met. I still test frequently, as Sienne would say, "I’m a testaholic". She is OTJ but she is diabetic. She still throws some morning blues (dawn phenomenon?) but drops within a few hours. She is Tuffy, the unpredictable.
Again, THANK YOU. I have a healthy, happy, he*l raising 6 year old kitty. I hope she always keeps her unique personality and mischievous ways.
I have not been around much. Lee, friend’s husband is now in hospice. I have had a few bumps in the road but all is well for now. My fur family, horses and cats, are well and happy.
