I'm not sure if Spaz caught wind of the fact that he was heading to the vet this morning but his numbers have been great today so far!
I took his BG a few times before going just to make sure that that the numbers were accurate and then again after I got him home to see how much the stress of being at the vet affected him. 76 right after taking him out of the cat carrier.
Right now my vet wants me to continue monitoring his BG without insulin (I know his numbers have been higher than what everyone here likes to see but my vet is quite pleased with them).
With Spaz's weight though he still thinks there's the potential for his numbers in increase again so we are now focussing on getting Spaz down a couple of lbs.
We didn't do the fructosamine - he said that with my monitoring of his BG that the fructosamine Would be an unnecessary expense.
He was EXTREMELY pleased that I have been monitoring his BG so diligently and commended me on doing so and to keep on doing it. He said that a lot of his clients aren't willing to do home testing.
He was also happy that I have weaned Spaz off of the dry kibble (even the dry DM). He wanted me to try the Purina M/D as Spaz didn't like the DM, but once I showed him that the carb content was similar in FF, he told me to continue with that food.
Overall I'm very pleased with how the visit went. I am to email him the SS in another week to show his numbers and contact him immediately if Spaz's numbers go over 200.
I'm so happy that I found this board (first on Facebook and then here), if I hadn't I never would have even considered home testing and likely would have never stopped feeding dry kibble. Thank you everyone for your comments, advice, and knowledge!

This is the place to be for FD.

Your vet sounds mostly good....

we like them to earn that end of insulin with the dose decreases earned over time.... until it's time for an otj trial.
It's the way we support the pancreas as long as we can.... before letting it take over on it's own.
Hopefully since you plan on continuing the monitoring... you'll catch it if he starts rising .... and can get him right back on the juice.

Yes my vet is very good. Very happy with the service he has provided :). I am continuing to monitor daily so if Spaz's BG rises I will know and will take action.

Yes, with the exception of the 131, which could have been delayed stress from the vet he's doing really well :). 106 this morning as well. Hoping this trend continues!
