I just fed him his 2nd breffis. J.D. seems happy. Just wait. He saw me bring the carrier up from the basement, but I tried to be nonchalant about it.

Today, both kitties get their regular check ups, and rabies shots. And J.D. will get his bi-annual Total Health Plus bloodwork.

I wonder how high he'll be at the vets. Their appointment is in 30 minutes. I better go get dressed. Even though it's only a 5 minute drive, it's a chore with two large cat carriers to hall. I think I'll get all their claws trimmed, too.

I hope everyone has a good day. It was nice and cool here, last night. Good sleeping weather.

Re: 06/04 J.D. AMPS 313, +1.5 401 Vet Check Up Day

Good luck with the vet visit today! I know how much of a struggle it is to manage with multiple kitties, carriers, and car rides. At least it will be out of the early, and the rest of the day is yours!

Re: 06/04 J.D. AMPS 313, +1.5 401 Vet Check Up Day

Good luck at the vet. I've done the juggling act with my civvies and 2 dogs. NEVER again! The entire staff was laughing at/with me. I get nails done to, my fat one, Gracie and baby MiMi are terrors. Who would ever think animals could twist and gyrate their bodies in such contortions just to avoid a nail trim. Don't they have spines and bones?

Barb: I trim their nails with my human finger nail trimmer. It's just I only do the fronts and I only clip the sharp tips (maybe 1/4 of an inch or so). The vet does front and back and clips them right up to the pink quick. I figure when I'm carrying J.D. through the security xrays or whatever they do these days, his nails won't be so sharp. He hates people ad the airport is a really scary place for him.

Okay, vet visit: Not only did J.D. pee in his carrier, he pooed, too  and I put him in the litterbox before we left and he didn't go. It's only 6 or 7 blocks from my house, so a less than 5 minute ride ohmygod_smile Ginger just drooled, because that's what Ginger does at the vets.
All exams were good. No problems. I'll get the results of the bloodwork on Monday. I allowed the vet to talk me into getting their distemper shots, too. I don't know if I should have. Anyway, all that, and with 6 doses of Frontline, I spent every cent I have until next month, and I still need to buy more crappy (sorry) syringes with varying first markings, Rescue Remedy for the flight days, and shrimp for my boy. Thank God for credit cards :-D

I have to go clean carriers, now. Stinky Poo.

I'm glad it was a good vet visit even if it was a smelly one! I empathize -- Gabby hates the carrier and the car.

Morning Dyana, I was going to wish you good luck at the Vet's until I read on down and saw you were already back home. Oh my what a time you had, and it sounded like you needed help. I have trouble with one cat getting to the parking lot, and you have two. Are you going on a trip soon? You mentioned Rescue Remedy and flight. I hope all the bloodwork turns out okay on Monday. I hope now you can also cach your breath and relax a little today. Treat yourself to a large strong coffee and a yummy scone or donut. Have a nice day.

Hopefully, he'll continue to slowly come down until PMPS or there abouts.

Ann: Yes, J.D. and I are going to California to visit my dad. We leave on the 19th and come home on the 30th.

Off to go get syringes, and Rescue Remedy, and shrimp.

What a start to your day, huh? I'm sure J.D.'s numbers will come back down in a bit. You know if a cat will pee and poop where he's "living," he has to be completely stressed! And I hear you on the money situation. What we won't do for our furbabies!

Have a great day! :-D

Re: 06/04 J.D. +3.5 409 post vet, +7.5 271 some good news

some good news: We have a good pharmacist at the new WalMart that opened recently in my town. She has been recommended to me before for diabetic questions. I took three syringes with me. One with the first mark at the top of the syringe, one "normal" which is a little ways down from the top, and one where the first mark was about 1/2 unit down from the top of the syringe. She took a good interest in the problem. Said she had never seen such a thing. Said that a year ago they had a different company making the ReliOn syringes. I told her that I never had a problem until about 5 or 6 months ago, which make about sense if they changed manufacturers 1 year ago. She took the three syringes from me, and said that she would call into the customer service phone number herself, and will call me with the results. Cool!

I talked to the Health Food Store person about the differences in the Rescue Remedy for Kids and the Rescue Remedy for Pets. The ingredients look to be the same, but the human stuff is cheaper. I thought it was usually the other way around. What do I know. I choose to stay with the one for Pets anyway.

I bought the shrimp today, as I had a $5.00 off coupon that expired today. $25.00 bag of shrimp that I got for $20.00 :-D
So, I had to show my cats all the purchases when I got home, as they are always interested in what I bought
And because of that, J.D. saw the shrimp, and he dosen't understand the word "later", so some are thawing out now.

Okay, I'm done doing things today.
Now, it's time to get my kitties outside....
dumb baby bunny has made his home right smack under my porch, and is always out eating the grass right in front of my front door, so I can't tie Ginger's leash to the front door knob anymore.

I buy Relion syringes, too, and I never thought to look at the markings to see if one syringe is different from the next. They come in bags of 1 in a box of 10. Are you finding differences in the markings in the bags of 10 or in the different bags in the box of 100?

Good news on the checkup.

The syringes were a huge problem with us using BD's also. I switched to monojects and they were almost always bang on. The BD's were off sometimes by more than 1/2 unit. That's a big deal with a cat dose.

Exactly. I told the Pharmacist that I give J.D. 1 unit and showed her the 2nd mark down with my fingernail, and then griped about the syringe with the first marking that was 1/2 unit down, and I mentioned something about babies.
Where do you get your monojets?
I also said something about my R expiring in April of 2010 and almost bought a new vile, but didn't. But I also showed her again with my fingernail the R dose is at the top mark (I usually give 0.10) because she said something about 1 unit, and I corrected her and said "no, right here at the top mark"...the varying top mark.

Patty, I believe the differences were per package. Because I have taken a box of 100 and looked through at the syringes in each sealed package and tried to sort them .. put them in piles of simuliar markings.

Back up he goes. Could it be from the bite he stole from my piece of pizza? Silly cat!
I just gave him his shot and I gave him a little R.
He just ate his 1st dinner.
