Can't account for that low AMPS yesterday:

So, although Eddie responded in a good way to yesterday's enema, still resistant to eating. I can see clearly that he is interested in food and wants to eat. He follows the bowl, puts his face down, starts licking the food and then twisting his tongue around like anything touching his teeth or gums hurts.

I am hard-pressed to keep him steady and get us to the dental specialist on Wednesday, June 5th. The "steady" refers to his eating. It's weird because after I syringe feed him and then go back later with a bowl, he'll be like he forgives me and starts to lick the food but then the same mouth issues and he stops.

I am under a lot of pressure at work right now and trying to keep all the balls in the air.

I've got to get Eddie there. It is our only chance.

Ok, starting to think about travel with Eddie: I have to leave here 4 hours before AMPS so by the time we arrive at dental specialist, Eddie will need insulin but because he's having surgery, he can't eat. I imagine they will allow 4u prior to surgery, not sure, but I'll find out.

I'm wondering if I should do a little extra testing sooner rather than later...so I got the AM + 6 and will have a better idea of where he's at.

The weather goddess is listening, it should be warm (but wet) and snow free on the Coq.

I went to the same place for Neko's dental. They said up to 1/3 of breakfast before 6AM and 1/2 dose insulin. If so you can feed him a little overnight. You can always call beginning of the week and ask. Make sure they ask the vet or they'll give you the standard non diabetic story. The half dose is standard for kitties undergoing anaesthesia and not able to eat. Have you seen this post: Info on Dental Procedures (including pictures). Leave some food at the dental vet for him to eat when he starts to come out of the anaesthesia.

Looks like wherever he got to night before last started a bounce yesterday and you are still in that bounce.

He still getting regular pain meds?

Quite relieved about the Coquihalla as well as the Connector where the weather is often more unstable that the other.

I found the same feeding instructions, nothing after 6:00 am but I have to be on the road @ 5:00 am so I'll have to ensure he gets something then with a 1/2 dose insulin. Our only challenge is that I'll probably have to syringe feed him but that's the way it goes. I'll check again with them on Monday. I've been getting the instructions from the vet so feel confident in that.

I am so hopeful for the dental and so afraid as well. I have to believe it will make a difference and he'll be able to better eat. Thanks for the tip about leaving food. I'm staying overnight in Vancouver if need be as I'm imagining he will be discharged later in the afternoon. I'll check that post, too, thanks.

He's still getting Buprenorphine (0.3ml at most BiD) and Ondansetron (4mg/once daily) in addition to his regular meds. We have not increased Prednisolone and all of that will be revisited once we get through this.

Ondansetron barely lasts 6 hours, you can easily up that to 3 times per day, even 4. You want to stay ahead of nausea - one pill per day won't do that.
