And I surely hope he will adjust!Makes perfect sense to me. If we are going to stick with .25 for a bit, we want to know what to expect. But I guess it will change as he adjusts to it.

Also, there are timed feeders for feeding at specific intervals. Although you have other cats.Ultimately, it would be ideal not to have to feed him and test him every half an hour if we are all to have a life outside of cat life…but for now, my life is Merlin. I’m ok with that.
We are doing 1/2 hourly tests for a bit to see if we can slow the drop that has been happening in the beginning of the cycle.Wouldn’t you be testing at 12:30 since you shot at 10:30?
Yes but I thought she would test at noon her time and then 12:30 - to keep on the half hour schedule. But I guess it got a little off schedule? We are doing 1/2 hourly tests for a bit to see if we can slow the drop that has been happening in the beginning of the cycle.
Yes just a small teaspoon low carb. The drop is not big this time so far.Ok. Confusing now. Tested at 12, but Libre got fussy and said come back in 10 minutes. So i ear tested and its
16.6@+1.5 on contour. Feed a spoon?
That was the plan.Yes but I thought she would test at noon her time and then 12:30 - to keep on the half hour schedule. But I guess it got a little off schedule?
Ok that is good. So we can see we have been able to slow the drop down with feeding some low carb food at the beginning of the cycle.Ok. Had to dig him out from under the bed.
16.3 Libre reading @ +nearly 2
Fed one spoon
YesSo should I enter this as +2…are we close enough?
If you feel you need to test every 30 mins….that’s OK. You can still let us know but I would just put the hourly BGs into the SS.Ok, but for my own sanity, because this is the critical time, I will test him on the Libre every 30. I can just report back at 1:30 to you, if it looks ok
Yes, unless there is a big drop, I would only give a teaspoon hourly….he may not even need that. And I should skip the spoonful in 30 min?
Yes, it makes sense. The last I fed him was 1 spoon at +2 (and had fed him one spoon every half an hour up to then) This seems to be the drop off time from yesterday and last night. Fingers crossed he can handle this teensy bit of insulin on his own now.Yes, unless there is a big drop, I would only give a teaspoon hourly….he may not even need that.
We need to see how he is handling the insulin as well as keeping him safe. We don’t want to prop him up with too much food if it isn’t necessary and the only way to find that out is to not give as much food. Does that make sense.?
I’d give just a teaspoon low carb. It’s good he’s responding to the insulin, just no diving practice Merlin!13.2 @+2.5

I will psychically send him that message.Hopefully we won’t need to feed him any more and he will come down on his own gracefully………hoping Merlin hears that![]()
Oh YAY!!!!!!!! Thank you, Mr. Claw. These are the words, along with all the other beautiful encouragement from you beautiful catpeople, that keep us going. And lots of coffee, of course.I've been following the Saga Of Merlin The Cat closely but staying quiet in these threads as they get so bloated so quickly, but here I feel I must chime in. I've been RIGHT where you are right now, just wondering how in the @#$% is this sustainable?? To echo what Bron said, it gets better!! When you first start shooting and testing and feeding a spoonful here and a spoonful there it is freaking nuts!! As you said, sugar cat care is your life right now.
But that hard work will pay off as he works his way to regulation, and then things become much, much easier on the caregivers.

It definitely is working to lower his BG. Just not as “dramatically” as before… with emphasis on DRAMA!Ok. We all feel happy here right now. It’s sunny in Cork, at last. It’s Friday. The day is young. Let’s keep this up, Mr. Merlin. I have a hangover feeling of “the Dropoff” like in Finding Nemo. The dark unknown 3 hour that’s to come. But, it seems ok. In fact, is this insulin having any effect at all? The alphabet (or number) soup in my head can’t evaluate these new numbers.
If we had not ‘fed the curve’ to slow the drop, the BG would be lower than it is now definitely. So yes the insulin is working. In fact, is this insulin having any effect at all?
I am dreaming of a teeny tiny syringe that you could just fill up to the top line and that would be .25. Like a Barbie-the-Vet syringe. Pink, preferably.
All going well, we will, actually, be going down the hill to the pub tonight! We will bring you all in spirit and raise our glasses to you all. He’d love that!
Have one for me. I was in Cork many years ago and remember it fondly. All going well, we will, actually, be going down the hill to the pub tonight! We will bring you all in spirit and raise our glasses to you all.
Excellent. Don’t feed. He’s slowing down.10.7@+3.5
Ok. Is he? That’s great.Excellent. Don’t feed. He’s slowing down.
