Also, there are timed feeders for feeding at specific intervals. Although you have other cats.

Yes, unless there is a big drop, I would only give a teaspoon hourly….he may not even need that.
We need to see how he is handling the insulin as well as keeping him safe. We don’t want to prop him up with too much food if it isn’t necessary and the only way to find that out is to not give as much food. Does that make sense.?

Yes, it makes sense. The last I fed him was 1 spoon at +2 (and had fed him one spoon every half an hour up to then) This seems to be the drop off time from yesterday and last night. Fingers crossed he can handle this teensy bit of insulin on his own now.

I've been following the Saga Of Merlin The Cat closely but staying quiet in these threads as they get so bloated so quickly, but here I feel I must chime in. I've been RIGHT where you are right now, just wondering how in the @#$% is this sustainable?? To echo what Bron said, it gets better!! When you first start shooting and testing and feeding a spoonful here and a spoonful there it is freaking nuts!! As you said, sugar cat care is your life right now.

But that hard work will pay off as he works his way to regulation, and then things become much, much easier on the caregivers.

Ok. We all feel happy here right now. It’s sunny in Cork, at last. It’s Friday. The day is young. Let’s keep this up, Mr. Merlin. I have a hangover feeling of “the Dropoff” like in Finding Nemo. The dark unknown 3 hour that’s to come. But, it seems ok. In fact, is this insulin having any effect at all? The alphabet (or number) soup in my head can’t evaluate these new numbers.

It definitely is working to lower his BG. Just not as “dramatically” as before… with emphasis on DRAMA!
