Good morning everyone and happy Friday. It is a sunny day here in Cleveland. Looks like already 86 degrees already at 9am! I did not catch a green for Shmee yesterday, but loving his AMPS this morning I assume I will see green today.

Question: He is due for an increase tomorrow, but if he sees green today I should give him a few more days on 5U, correct? And his appetite is back to being great, yesterday he ate the full 2.5 cans without hesitation, and this morning he scarfed down his entire 1/2 can already.

According to the Denamarin web site, "Many pets are maintained long-term on every-other-day or every-third-day administration." Maybe this is something to consider trying with Shmee now that liver values have improved rather than simply stopping denamarin altogether???

This is a great idea, I did not see that on the website. I am thinking I will still do the trial run of him being off of it for a few weeks though, since it has already been a little over a week, it is expensive, and if there is a possibility of him not needing it I want to catch it. If his appetite gets worse or his liver values go back up, I will definitely start giving it to him again though (would definitely try that 2nd or 3rd day option) but for now I want to give the three week trial a try. Do you think that is a bad move or ok? My vet and some commenters here said some cats do only need it short term, so I am hoping that is the case for Shmee.

He's looking good on this dose for now so I'd hold off on the increase. When considering an increase I look at the last 5 days or so and if there are low greens no need to increase. This dose has gotten him into the 50's and just 2 days ago into the 70's It's a nice start today and who knows, he might even ask for a reduction soon.

Is that a nakid belly shot? We love those here.

If you like the nadirs on a dose, and I love this one so far, I'd hang onto the dose a while. I liked Neko's nadirs in the 70's and once held onto a dose for months cause she kept giving me numbers I liked. With the odd nadir in the 50's, there's not much room for an increase.

I think it's fine. Try it and see what happens. You'll know soon enough if his liver values go back up.
