Good morning everyone!

Third day in a row with the AMBG in the greens . Juno's levels have been so stable in the 60's that today I thought the meter could be spoiled :shock:. Tested my other cat and the meter is working fine :lol:.

I'm a bit concerned that Juno is not eating as much as when I was giving him normal doses of insulin. I don't know if that's because he's getting fed up of the Ziwi Peak food. When I'm at home I usually leave out a little bowl of dry food for my other cat to eat from time to time. The other day Juno wanted to eat the "forbidden" food, but as I said "NO" he turned around and he only ate a little bit of the canned food. Perhaps it's time to buy a different brand of canned food low in carbs.

Juno really likes the 60's doesn't he. :mrgreen: It looks like you went without insulin again today? Not sure from what was in the SS when I looked. You shot in the 60's last night and he stayed there, so just wondering why the change.

Juno will be less hungry in all these great numbers. Have you tried all the flavors of ZiwiPeak? Good luck finding some more food he likes.

i'd get rid of all the dry food in the house. So many cats find it irresistible, and a few people have done experiments that have shown that even 3-4 pieces of kibble can raise a cat's blood sugar high and keep it there for a day. depends on how carb sensitive the cat is. With Juno at this phase, his pancreas obviously healing and sputtering back into gear, i would think it would be really bad for him to have the set-back of getting any dry food.

Like Wendy, I wondered if you shot this morning. The longer you can continue giving him even a tiny dose, the better support for his pancreas, and the better his chances of a strong start to remission. We just want to see him get there and stay there so we can have his OTJ party! Love those celebrations!!!

That's right. I haven't given any insulin in the morning like in the last days. I wasn't sure if I should give him any insulin in the morning, as his values have been so stable. I thought I could keep giving a tiny dose of insulin only once a day. His values have not gone below 50 (at least I haven't caught none yet), and perhaps I should have given insulin twice a day, but he has been so well so far with a single micro dose per day. :roll:

Today I have been away from home for quite a few hours and I tested him as soon as I arrived. I was so worried that his values could have risen up, but he is at 65 which is great. In any case, I decided to give him a very tiny dose of insulin. Do you think is it time to start an OTJ trial or should keep giving him the micro dose of insulin for a few more days?

About the food, he has tried all flavours of Ziwi Peak. I usually alternate different flavours in consecutive days.

Hi Julie,

Juno is not having any dry food, except that single day in the past week that I had to give him some food in high carbs. The funny thing is that Juno ate for 12 years only dry food, but as soon as he got sick with diabetes he stopped eating it. Now that he's starting to feel better he wants to go back to that same food, but I'm definitely not letting him to do it! I'm trying to get rid the dry food at home, but my other cat is so finicky with food, that I need to have some dry food for her. Otherwise, she doesn't eat much of the other food.

I haven't gave any dose in the morning as I thought it could be too risky to give him twice a day with such good values. I also want to ask you the same question as I did to Wendy. Do you think is it time to start an OTJ trial or should keep giving him the micro dose of insulin for a few more days?
