Ok, I am officially a geek. I have resisted that label for many, many years - but technology is just so awesome! I installed a security camera to watch Gizmo while I am at work. I have it where I can look at his food bowl and see if he is eating (or ate) and look at the entire den area (he like to hang out there and watch the going-ons in the back yard). It has two way communication so I can talk to him and I can turn on the mic to see if he is howling (which he only does when he is dropping low and looking for food).

With the remodel we are installing all kinds of these gadgets (well, I am - haha). I have a porch light(bulb) that is controlled by an app. Installed a wifi thermostat, got a Ring security camera for out front to watch the driveway and entry into the back yard. All of it is pretty reasonably priced.

We think alike, I also have a cam on the feeder. Nice to get motion alerts from the cam when he eats so I know exactly what time he did actually eat overnight .& can also check the cam to see how much he ate. Another bonus with the cam is to make sure the feeder actually turned correctly when I am away from home.

I think the price is reasonable for peace of mind. Had a bit of an issue connecting it to the Wi-Fi but I think that was user error. It does require being plugged in to outlet so have to consider that when/where installing.

And you can set up a "region" box to send you a message on your smart phone via the app if any motion takes place inside that box during whatever scheduled time you set.

I can just see me at a party and getting notified by my phone that some suspicious activity was taking place by the animals at home! "Sorry, I need to leave, the cats are on the counters trying to get into the cookie jar!"

Funny condo. We had one member who installed a deer cam downstairs near the LBs when she was trying to figure out which can had loose poo. Maybe not the notification you want when out to dinner with friends.

Love the cam! I work from home four days per week, but I'm just dying not knowing what Noah is up to on the day I have to be in the office. The first couple of greens I got on these days I would feel sick all day wondering if he was ok!
