yes that's it covenia.he said it lasts 7-10 days. regarding the lantsus document.he said he got it from his contact at the university so im sure that will be up to date.

last night I didn't know what to do. I was in work at 4am today and the hed gone from 266 pre shot to 128 in 4 hours and I knew I was going to work for 8 hours :-( so I had to leave high carb food out just in case as I know his numbers go even lower at night around +9- +11 so I was scared. I couldn't risk it.hes eaten that and ive still only come home to a 254. ive still given him 9 units at am but im home now til the same shift tomorrow so I can test throughout the rest of the day but what do I do tonight if his numbers are low.im on a PM shift the night after (fri) which doesn't bother me AS much as he doesn't seem to go as low then.gosh after what his numbers have been like I honestly didn't think id be asking these questions so soon about LOW numbers :-D nailbite_smile

il be very glad to finish Saturday for an 8 day break so I can see what my boys body is doing and not be worrying about leaving him on a low number.

Hi guys .. I'm sorry you were so scared last night .. it's hard when we aren't used to lower numbers isn't it? But yet, kinda exciting too :-D

so Anna, just to clarify - on the spreadsheet it looks like he's had 3 injections of the Convenia, is that right? I don't want to scare you, but there are some concerns about using Convenia. If he were mine, I'd ask for something different next time. Here's some info on it. http://www.catinfo.org/?link=convenia

Would you write in your spreadsheet that these injections were Convenia, please?

I think you're doing a good job of keeping Bailey safe while you go to work. Leaving food out is very smart. You might want to reread the "Handling Low Numbers" sticky with the part about the low preshot numbers - you can always give a partial dose if you think the preshot number is too low for your comfort zone when you're having to leave.

Anna - it's great to see Bailey responding so well, but I can understand how nerve wracking it is. You did exactly the right thing by leave high carb food out. Does Bailey eat all at once or is he a grazer? if he likes to eat food as soon as it's out, they you might want to think about getting an automatic pet feeder the opens when you schedule it to. Then you can set if to have food available when you think he might be lowest. If you can't get a feeder in time, you can always freeze some high carb food in an ice cube tray and set it out. Then it'll thaw and be available to eat later when he might need it.

hi wendy ,im lucky really.hes a grazer.since he was a kitten hes never eaten a full meal.always leaves some in his dish for later.little and often is how he rolls.weve got an automatic feeder but I don't really need it as I know he just tucks Into whatever food ive left down, when im not in, when hes hungry! :-D

Julie that's worrying about the convenia.il speak to my vet about that. although it does seem to have done him good.hes seems a happier boy. it just seems that everything that's done him good theres always something that knocks me back to worrying cos its bad for him or theres bad write ups about it.you never know whether you're doing the right thing!

I definitely think hes had a bounce yesterday as I didn't last long those high numbers and were back on track. I think! nailbite_smile
