05/12 Furball Home From Dental

Bummer Carla. I mix the 1/2 capsule of each into the 4 feedings of the cycle (I use an autofeeder) so it isn't all in one snack/meal. Is Furball easy to pill? Gizmo is NOT - lol.

Hi Carla, I sympathize with you about the pilling. I have never been good at it. Do you use a pill-pusher? I found that it helped.
Hopefully Furball will get back to her good numbers after the infection has cleared and she won't have to go back on insulin. Keep on testing!!

I managed to get some Gluco Ensure and Pancreas Booster in her this morning.

Maybe put a wee bit of butter on the pill? It will slide easier and Furball might like the taste.
 
sorry to see her numbers are high Carla... come on Furball time to get back to those blues and greens that looked so pretty on you... prayers for lower numbers soon and that if she has to go back on the juice its only for a short time :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Glad that Furball's dental went well and that her numbers were a little better the day after. Hope she will be feeling better soon and back in her lovely greens and blues.

Oh dear about her ear polyp returning. They sure can be uncomfortable and a source of pain, discomfort and inflammation even if no infection present.

Sending heaps of vines for Furball's bg to continue to improve and, with added vines from Spunky, that her ear polyp isn't causing pain and diminishes. And that all your kitties resume CPC appetites. It's been the same here recently, too. Springtime ?;)

Hi Carla.

Were you able to find a place that would sell you a single pen? Looking at Furball's SS, I'd say she really does need to get back on insulin. I know you don't want to hear that, but like some others, I'm concerned about glucose toxicity setting in. You know we all love you and your kitties and want the best for you! :bighug::bighug:
 
I know it's really a bummer, but I agree with Tricia...I would get Furball going on the juice sooner rather than later so she doesn't get too used to these yucky numbers (or worse). With any luck, the dental will ultimately do the trick, but it definitely looks like her pancreas needs some support from insulin in the meantime. Hugs and prayers, Carla....I know it's daunting to even think about going back on the juice....

Carla, I do have a refrigerated cartridge of Lantus that was barely used before Sootie went OTJ. I'm glad to overnight it to you (tips welcome on best way to pack refrigerated) if will help you and Furball.

I wondered same too, as a possible factor though not necessarily the only factor. Ear polyps, from what I've experienced with civie Spunky, create pressure, discomfort and risk of inflammation/infection when the polyp begins to obstruct the ear canal and block normal drainage. I think of it as something the body is in constant awareness and alert about, perhaps in struggle with when the polyp is trying to expand itself.

One of my observations with Spunky is that during the current treatment plan of alternating days of ear washes and the prescription powder, is that on the days when she has the treatment of ear powder that includes a numbing agent, her appetite is golden. when it wears off, we're back in the iffy appetite realms.
