Good morning everyonetell your cats I said hi!

I increased Mister’s dose to 3.5u this morning. I hesitated for a moment since he did go down into yellow last night, but with his AMPS being high again and him not doing quite as well yesterday (ketones went from 0.6 to 1.1 & less energy, sleeping most of the day) I decided to do the increase that was discussed in my previous condo.

He’s eating breakfast now. I’ll check back in a few hours. I hope everyone has a blessed day

I just found a torn bag of dog food someone left on the kitchen table last night. It was already mostly empty, and the culprits didn’t finish all of it, but enough that I expect a bounce there was still some left in the bag, and maybe a tablespoon missing. I think his sister acted with him because she wasn’t hungry this morning and she’s also been missing her dry food. So I can’t say for sure how much he ate.

I try so hard to keep him safe, I hate it when things like this happen. This is the second time, which means I’m going to start doing nightly checks before I go bed to make sure nothing is left out. I live with my parents and they also have animals, so I’ll need to be more vigilant.

Can you put bags of dry food in a container? Maybe a small plastic trash can with a lid if too big for a food container?

Yes I already did that, I put the dog food in one of those plastic bins with wheels on the bottom. This one was a mostly empty bag of food for my parents dog that they found cleaning out cupboards and meant to throw away it was left on the kitchen table. Thankfully I do know he couldn’t have had more than a few bites, especially since there was still some left in the bag, but I can’t dismiss the fact he ate any at all

I feel so guilty for it taking him getting into that dog food for me to realize I should be checking everything before I go to bed, knowing he’s a night owl and will get into food if it’s there. His BG started to go down last night and I was so hopeful for today and now we are back at square one and he’s suffering for my clumsiness. My sweet boy

He was so active last night and this morning, and now that his numbers are up he’s so sleepy. I feel just terrible. I’m going to be on top of it from now on because I don’t want him going through this again.

He did let me get his fluids in him today. My mom was here to help me and it went pretty smoothly. I ordered an EZ harness that should be here in a day or two, hopefully that will help me get them in him every day. I have a weeks worth left. Feeding him the lowest carb pate options that I have today. I hope it doesn’t take too long for the dog food to leave his system.

I read many peoples threads and there’s lots of times cats get into the wrong foods that are higher carb. It happens. And that’s how we learn to be more careful.

Cats are sneaky

He came down into pink! (Please ignore my messy floor) I was nervous about his numbers going even higher. I have felt awful all day, but it’s a lesson learned. I think my parents also better understand the importance of putting food away (any food!), they love this little guy too.

His PMPS is 332. Do you think it’s possible he’s clearing it already or could it potentially go back up again?

He’s not bouncing and he might be clearing the carbs but it can take a while. He’s pretty flat.

Okay, I hope it doesn’t take too long. I know with dry it can be a few days sometimes. I didn’t know what other word to use besides “bounce” for an increase in BG (I guess could just say that!)
I’ll keep his spreadsheet updated through the evening/night.

A bounce happens after they’ve dropped quickly or into BGs a lot lower than they are used to….think under 200. Lets hope it doesn’t take too long to clear the carbs as I don’t want to hold off on dose increases but if we think we are dealing with carbs and not just high BGs, we might have to slow down.

We’ve had members whose cats have stolen pizza right under the CGs nose
