Good Afternoon: Since I'm home briefly, thought I would start the condo and ask for some assistance.

Tuffy has taken my watch off the vanity in the bathroom. It has been missing for a week. If anyone has a crystal ball or can twitch their nose and make it reappear, I would appreciate it.

Hope all are doing well today. Kitties, please be kind to your beans and provide nice blue/green numbers without a lot of drama.

Also sending fantastic vibes to Sienne and her sister. Keeping them in our thoughts and prayers today.

Have a good one to all.

Tuffy must want to know what time it is! I lost the pin for my watch somewhere on my desk. I was trying to install a new watchband and the pin flew up into the air, landed somewhere on my desk, but is nowhere to be found. (At least it didn't land in my eye!) I had to dig up an old watch to wear because we don't have a watchmaker here in town. I miss my watch: it has a barometer on it, but I guess I don't need a barometer to know that we have awful weather.
Barbara, send us some Florida sunshine. It is raining "cats and dogs" here.

Joining you in sending good thoughts and prayers for Sienne's sister's surgery today.

Ella & Rusty

Hi guys .. this is my first time in the loose lips condo! I take it this is where we can gab about nothing? Today is mine and peter's 8 year anniversary .. he is getting out of work early and we are going to dinner tonight .. then it is off to a class that is being held for home business's (my cake business) it's going to run about two hours but will cover so much info I'll be taking peter with me to help with notes/listening .. two heads are better then one I guess!

Congratulations on the 8 year anniversary! How wonderful that you've made it this far, and are committed to keep going. My 21st is in June, though it seems like only yesterday - until I see pictures of me and my husband, and can hardly recognize those children.

Rosie, one of my civvie cats, refuses to leave my lap while I'm trying to write and take notes. Every time I look down, there are those lovely leafy-green eyes staring up at me with adoration. :YMSIGH: Can't put her down - too cute. Her fur is as soft as sable, shiny and dark. She's another gorgeous little torti, only with pure white socks and a white bib.

The other cats are holding down furniture all over the house. Can't let it all fly up into the air. This is the job of a cat, and they take it very seriously.

Hope all you beans and sugar kitties have a quiet, content, and healthy day.

Aww, Tuffy! Thank you for giving me a little giggle today by stealing time. Too funny about your watch Barbara!

And Ella with the flying watch pin... So glad it didn't hit you in the face. Those little things are springy and I've lost my fair share of them. Your watch sounds really cool with a barometer.

Happy Anniversary Devon and Peter! You are like newly weds...only 8 years, hee, hee! That is so sweet that he is going to class with you.

Hahaha! Hroswitha- Love that your kitties are keeping your furniture from flying up in the air!

We are still without electricity. It is day 7. I'm getting depressed too. I'm not used to washing dishes by hand, hahaha! And we are able to only power a few things at a time. The refrigerator and a lamp are always on and we rotate other items such as a hot plate or toaster. I can recharge my cell phone and iPad thank goodness. Otherwise I'd really be in the Twilight Zone. The phone lines and cable are out along with the power. I miss my computers, washing machine and especially the dryer. .....sigh.....

The rain today means we had to either shut down the generator or move it in the garage. Moving it into a garage is never recommended because of the carbon monoxide fumes it emits. Keeping that in mind... we pushed it to the edge of the garage and are keeping the door open. Then we got a fan, plugged it in to the generator and aimed it so it diagonally pushes the fumes away from the house doors. Because of the huge cords that are snaked into the house one door cannot be closed tightly. We nailed a plastic shower curtain outside the door and taped the edges to help prevent the CO from seeping inside. We have another door from the garage to the house that we can use to go in and out and it closes tightly. We are taking this very seriously because there have already been at least two fatalities in Chattanooga due to carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator housed in a garage (they had the garage door closed.)

If I need to go out for groceries or anything, I have to unplug all the cables, shut down the generator and close the garage door since we cannot lock the house with those cables keeping the door cracked. Then on my return I do everything in reverse. When I'm home again I have to periodically check that the rain doesn't start splashing too much and get water on the electric cables.

This isn't much fun. Either I am watching out for toxic fumes or rain shorting out the cables. All of which are nerve wracking thoughts. We do have a carbon monoxide monitor as extra protection. So we are actually pretty safe, it is just a little exhausting. The noise pollution is very fatiguing. A generator is VERY loud and it is hard to get away from that constant noise since the power cables only go a certain distance. We are mainly in the noisy kitchen. When I open the door to get something from the refrigerator in the garage the noise is so obnoxious that the kitties run away every time. I can't say that I blame them!

BigMac dropped again today... to 37 and I'm down to my last can of HC food. I'm glad Pat mentioned that a few Temptations would raise his BGs up easily. I found a bag of them so I don't have to go out until my DH comes home. I've already done the generator shut-down/restart today and really don't want to do it again.

Thank you for letting me whine like a big baby. I hope my next update will be more cheerful.

AND super apologies to TASHA and KARISA. Thank you for being so patient about your OTJ party. The movie is being held hostage in my powerless desktop computer. ohmygod_smile

Devon, happy anniversary to you and Peter!!

Barbara...maybe you should check your handbag for your watch. I know Tuffy likes to take things OUT of your purse. Maybe now she's putting things in!

And CD: Bummer. Double bummer. I hope the clouds lift in your part of the state soon. Leave it to BigMac to throw low numbers now. Wishing you sun soon. :-D

Nothing to add here. I am here less because I am working more hours. I need to do a Roll Call soon, but it will have to wait another week or so. Okay, recess is over, back to work, bye everyone!

um, i don't think being thrown back temporarily into the middle ages is whining, cd! you go right ahead. i can imagine the noise of the generator making you crazy - i hate that kind of loud machine sound. glad you could check in with us and let you know you're still alive!

 on the furniture weights! yes, kitties take their responsibilities very seriously!

happy anniversary devon - awesome! have a wonderful time tonight, even if a class isn't too anniversary-celebration-ish at least you'll be together!

elle, your weather, my gosh when will it let up! you must be exhausted of it. i haven't really seen much on the news about it, but endless rain can make anyone crazy. wait. i live in the land of endless rain! don't move to Oregon!!!! actually it's more like the land of drizzle - we don't usually have big buckets like you're having.

barbara - i have one kitter who's a thief - anya. it's half incredibly entertaining and half incredibly annoying! my biggest hahaha was when she came running full speed from our bedroom, meowing while she ran, and dropped a sample perfume bottle in front of me. she's a mosey-er and is nearly silent, except for occasional trills. so you know she was very happy to have killed that perfume bottle and brought it to me. she'd be that Cat Burglar cat from florida that was featured on the news a few weeks ago if she went outside - dragging home swimsuits from the neighbors during the middle of the night. good luck with the missing watch!

kitty wrestling at my feet right now. that's how i know punkin's really feeling good. when he feels lousy he won't wrestle with anya. he always wins when they wrestle - he outweighs her by 7 lbs and he shows his street fighting skills when he gets going. he doesn't back up. one time i took him to the vet with wounds - he'd been fighting with something on our deck - and the vet showed me where the wounds were and said punkin hadn't turned tail - he'd been right after whatever it was.

Thank you for the happy anniversaries!

Hroswitha, that is funny what you posted, about barely recognizing yourselves in your wedding pictures .. my friend came over and saw our wedding picture on my desktop and said YOU LOOK LIKE A BABY! I said, well I was only 23 I WAS A BABY! Our tortie also has a white big, we call that her white ruffled shirt and she also has white paws, which we say she is wearing lady gloves .. actually in this house she has a full outfit, a white ruffled shirt, lady gloves, a black cardigan, and camouflage pants! I guess writing it down like that makes us sound dorky .. ahahhaha

CD, I am sorry you have been without power for so long .. Those generators can be very annoying as well as dealing with all the cords/cables .. I sure do hope power get's restored soon to you guys ..

Kathy, don't work to hard, make sure you take time for yourself!

julie, sounds like you got one tough kitty on your hands .. bet he would protect you in a heartbeat .. how sweet ..

I didn't marry until reaching the venerable old age of 25, but MAN I look young. My darling Davey, partner for 24 years, has grown grey and developed a shiny pate, but he still looks like the kid I married to me. We waited 10 years after marriage to have a kid, and he's both aging us and keeping us young. Even the pictures of Davey with him as a baby are astonishing - where did all the grey hair come from? Raising Max, no doubt.

I have often thought of my life as divided into periods dominated by one cat or another. I am a different person in each of these periods. When Dave and I met, the true love of my life was my insolent and domineering torti cat, Lilith. None of my previous boyfriends were good enough to her - she drove them out. But Dave knew to treat her like an empress, and she tolerated him. I couldn't even consider having a child or going on a long trip while she was alive - she would have pined too hard. Only after we lost her to renal failure in '99 could I consider motherhood. After all, what would the kitty think?

All other cats before or since have been reflections of Lilith, but no less loved. Mala looks nearly exactly like that imperious kitty, though not as large as Lilith was. We still sometimes call Mala by Lilith's name, so firm a hold does she still have on our hearts.

I hope the era dominated by Mala lasts another 10 years. She's got the heart to stay with us, and we love her too much to let go without a fight. When a dear friend of mine told me that, if one of her cats developed diabetes, she and her husband would say, "That's it", I admit to nearly jumping down her throat. If we were talking cancer, she's right. Renal failure, depending on when you catch it, can also be a death sentence. But I won't consign Mala to a death years before her time if she still has quality of life before her. Given the way she's been yapping and running about the house, I think she's going to come through this.

Wishing green and blues to all you out there. Forgive my random ramblings - between articles and not ready to pick up another. :YMSIGH:

Barbara: that TUFFY!  I suggest you just buy a new watch.

Devon: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! Hope you and Peter have a marvelous day and you enjoy your class.

Renee: loved your stories....your love story with Davey and with Lilith and the crazy little Mala!!

Ella: MORE RAIN?? I'll send Tobey to help bail out the basement.

CD: BIG HUGS!! I don't think you are a whiner..I think you are a trooper!!! Hope you get 'lectricity soon!

Hoping to download my camera in the next day or so and post pics of our kitchen, bathroom, and deck.....and of course, the catnip patch.

Squishy would have been able to find it for you. He was after all a cat wizard ;-) I'm sure the watch will reappear soon. Squishy did that once with his collar. It was a non-safety collar with a buckle and he had lost it somewhere in the house while playing with his sister who at the time lived upstairs. I didn't bother looking for it because there was no way I was going to crawl on my hands and knees looking in every nook and cranny from the attic to the basement  A week later Squishy went exploring out the back door, probably down to the basement, and came back carrying his collar in his mouth

Does anyone have tips on how to keep a roll of toilet paper intact? One of the civies completely unrolled a new roll of tp the other day and shredded most of it @-) They have plenty of toys and each other to play with so they shouldn't be bored. I've been removing the tp from the holder before I leave for work now so I don't come home to find another wasted mess.

Well, sadness fills LL again. What a wonderful support network this place is. All the love and good thoughts keep us going.

CD: No, you are not whining. Think of it as pilgrims progress   Hope normalcy returns to your area soon. Glad you have a generator to keep the frig going.

Peter & Devon: Happy Anniversary. Hope you had a great dinner and fantastic class and Peter took good notes.

Kathy: Checked the handbag, no luck. She is either taking things out or putting them in. Nothing like going somewhere and pulling a catnip mouse out of your purse. @-)

Julie: The theives keep us on our toes. It's a laugh a minute around here.

Marje: Can't wait to see your pictures. Bet it is beautiful. Good luck with Gracie. It will get better.

Ella: Hope Edward's shoulder is feeling better and your rain stops soon. Sending drying out vines and sunshine from FL.

I have been down that road, everything was wrapped in tp. At least it was not shredded. I did what you did. I no longer put it on the holder except when I have company coming. One of them even opened a roll of paper towels and did shred that. They too have lots of toys, like kids with pot lids and wooden spoons.

Again, hope we hear from Sienne and all went well. Sending healing vines and prayers her way for her and her sister and thinking or Roni, Brad and Moonie.

Off to do dishes and hit the hay.

when i had a cat that was in a tp-shredding phase i took it off the roll, too. that's foolproof. but as i was reading this i was wondering if it would work if you draped a handtowel over the roll. something to try out, maybe.
