AMPS 115 shooting 1.75u

Boomer ate all of his overnight fuds except for his +6. He scored some ff with a bit of gravy as his extra +3 thanks to the 59 he gave me.

Allen ate well overnight and seems hungrier this morning. I wonder if it has anything to do with the B12 shot he got yesterday. I've never tracked this before but will now.

It's been beautiful here these last few days; I've been out several times for photo walks and only missed one day thanks to my cold. But it's rainy here today so it's time to get some indoor chores done :p

I discovered a few days ago that, at one of my local ponds, there were Flickers hanging out. I was seeing them each day although they were staying high in the trees which makes for a difficult (and not very attractive) shot. Finally one came down to a more reasonable height for me! So today's photo is of a male Northern Flicker.

Nice surfing last night for Boomer. I hope he heads back to the lagoon today and surfs. Nice to hear both kitties ate well. Love the picture. Beautiful bird.
 
Beautiful bird! Is that related to the woodpecker? I love woodpeckers, I was going to school one morning when I was around 15 and I saw the biggest woodpecker ever lol it was huge, reminded me of woody woodpecker the cartoon, I thought I was seeing things

Yes the Flicker is part of the woodpecker family. The one you saw may have been a Pileated. I've only ever seen one. They can be up to 20 inches long!
 
I do believe B12 does help boost appies...if I remember correctly, this is one of the things IBD kitty beans report.

As always, beautiful bird!! We had a couple of those gigantic woodpeckers like Bellasmom mentioned in our backyard last year. DH took pictures with his phone - they were incredible. We have lots of small woodpeckers here (some have "enjoyed"the trim on our house :facepalm:), but that was the first time I'd ever seen the big boys!

Yeah it probably was that big and that’s the only time I’ve ever saw it, I was shocked cause I was used to the little ones u see on trees and he was huge and soooo beautiful

Yes we have Downy Woodpeckers that like to peck at our deck and the brick on our house :banghead: I saw my first pileated last year and I would love to see more!
 
Allen normally sleeps all morning up until +3 fuds but he just came into the kitchen at +2 and was checking out the perimeter for crumbs lol so I gave him some food. Nice to see him extra hungry!
 
That is one pretty but fat bird! :p Great photo Judy. Glad to hear Allen's appy has picked up and do believe the B-12's are suppose to help :) Keep surfin Booms...looking good buddy.
 
Loving all the bird photos and talk :bighug: Pileateds live in wooded area near us and truly are ginormous :woot: Our Flickers are much smaller than your northern ones, Judy . Right now we are enjoying the Baltimore Orioles eating jelly on our deck . :)

I've tried enticing baltimore orioles to my backyard but had no luck. I've heard they are back but haven't actually seen one yet. Hopefully soon!
 
Boomer us doing well.

We have all the woodpeckers mentioned. The pileateds are huge and the noisist by far. The Orioles are hit and miss. I will see one every year never visits it juice feeder. I saw a bluebird a few weeks ago. They use to nest in the houses we had. Now the trees have fallen and we have to replace the houses. My feeders are in now because of the bears. Have to clean and get hummer feeders out.

I learned a trick years ago, early Orioles will attack suet. I usually put out one with berries or orange flavor. It's a long flight from the Yucatan peninsula and they are hungry. After a week or so they gravitate to the grape jelly or nectar. Good luck
