May Day! When I was little my mom and I would pick bouquets of flowers and leave them on the porches of elderly women (usually living alone) on May day. I don't remember why - I think it was just an act of kindness but not sure why it was on May 1st.

Do you know the history behind it? I think it has to be a Scandinavian or Scottish thing but I am not sure. We would put the bouquet on by the door and knock and then hid. That is all I remember though.

My guess is it was something my mom and her mom did and my mom carried it along to bring a little cheer to the elderly in our church. Not sure why I remembered it this morning. I hadn't thought about it in a very long time.

No, this was in Oregon. I remember cutting roses from the bushes and rhododendrons.
