I took Panzer's clean catch into the vet a few hours ago & it came back with white blood cells in his urine again.
Here's how it reads in the notes I had them print out
Urinalysis: WBC+++ PH 6 SG 1.015???
They said they could not send a clean catch to the lab & they don't do cystocentesis on any cats or dogs because the vet says it does more damage than good? He's old school but the only vet that doesn't require them to have the rabies vaccine.
They gave me doxycycline again & I got 2 boxes of cerenia & I'm waiting for him to approve Ondansetron through chewy. I have one bottle of ondansetron leftover from the last vet, so I will be starting him on the doxycycline & Ondansetron @ PMPS feeding. I only have 6 Proviable DC tablets so I won't be able to give them daily 2-3hrs prior to the antibiotic until I have more money. I'm going to hold off on the cerenia for now. It cost me right at $100 at the vet today, so now I'm short on my rent until Friday.
I also canceled Spooks insurance that was supposed to come out of my bank account tomorrow. I literally have $4.88 in my bank account so it would have been negative if that $ would have come out!!!My gas is going to be shut off on Tues unless I pay $102 so that's coming out of my rent $ as well. I will be so happy & not so stressed out once I can get everything caught up. We have a house to look at on Monday & I'm purposely going to bid it low so we get it, hopefully. I am so tired of being broke.
On a good note I got a vial of Lantus & 3 boxes of 100 test strips from DCIN today. They had to put a rush on it because I didn't know I had to put in a request when I started a new pen. I msged my caseworker when I was at 180mg & we are down to 20ml as of right now on our last pen.
@Suzanne & Darcy @tiffmaxee @Bandit's Mom could one of you explain the PH & SG numbers to me please.

I understand they will not send a clean catch to the lab. So how do they get a sterile sample? Do they never send out urine?

USG is urine specific gravity and his in not well concentrated which one expects with ckd. The white cells could mean either infection or because it was not a clean catch. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I guess they don't send out a sterile sample. They told me I could take him to another vet for a cystocentesis, but I can't because they all require him to have a rabies vaccine. I don't do vaccines due to losing 2 cats due to vaccines causing tumors on there bodies.
His last blood work that was done was indicating that he was headed towards CKD, but he was also sick as he is now. He eats alot of low phosphorus weruva now, but he also eats fancy feast because he gets tired of the weruva.

It’s possible the creatinine will come down if he was dehydrated. If given fluids that can lower USG.

Another question I have is. Is it okay to give Panzer his cosequin with the antibiotic & ondansetron @ AMPS feeding? I normally give it to him at that feeding, but I could give it to him at his +2-+3 AMPS snack which is when I give him the D Mannose & I'm going to have to move the probiotic to snack time as well. Is it okay to mix any of these medications?

I agree but I'm glad that I found out it wasn't just Panzer the terror being singled out:cat:
Which vet did the culture where they sent out Panzer's urine to be cultured and they determined what bacteria he had and which antibiotics it was sensitive to? I remember it being done. That must have been another vet.

Yeah it was the one before I went back to this one. The one that refuses to give any prescriptions or any services without giving him a rabies shot.

His USG may be a little low (kidney disease) but not necessarily. A lot depends upon his hydration status. Can you tell me what his USG was in the last (few) urinalysis tests? Do you have the data? We should look at trends and not one test.

I will look through his threads & on his labs. I have the paper work somewhere but I may find it easier looking on here.

Well, that stinks. I hate those vets who are sticklers for Rabies shots (when the cat has already been vaccinated against rabies in the past) but it is what it is. I would only consent to the rabies vaccine if it was a Merial Purevax non-adjuvanted rabies vaccine. Those are the safest in my opinion and sometimes I have had to resort to that (like now... because my cat Marcus has to go to University of Georgia for radiation treatment and he cannot go there unless he has the rabies vaccine... so I just had it done a week ago. :-(

Urine pH in a cat should be about 6.3-6.6 -- so he's close. I don't think I would worry too much about that right now. Bacteria can alter that pH -- so it hopefully will improve with the doxycycline.

That's the only kind that he has had & that was because the vet I was seeing refused to take him as a patient without it & I needed insulin for him, so I had no choice. That was when he was on prozinc before I had started testing him.

At least this current vet is willing to give you the meds to try and help Panzer. I'm so sorry with how you are struggling financially to make all this work.

On his labs I found the USG in March of last year & it was 1.028, that's all I've found so far, but I believe he was sick at the time of that urinalysis.

I'm glad to, but I just looked on my chewy account & they either haven't contacted him yet or he's not going to approve the ondansetron.

I found the culture test results on post from 03-24-22 it shows what antibiotics he was resistant to

I was so caught up looking through my old posts that I totally missed +5 testing. Oh well saved me a test strip & he's @96 @+6 PMPS. I'm feeding them now then I have to scoop the cat boxes & vacuum the cat room , I may get a +7 test just to see where he's at.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through radiation treatment prayers for you & Marcus :bighug::bighug::bighug:

My vet approved the ondansetron from chewy it is on it's way!
Spooks insurance still came out of my account even though I canceled it, so now my bank account is in the negative. I talked to someone at the bank on Friday & asked why they charged me $15 maintenance fee on 3-15. They said because I didn't meet the standard amount of $ in my account, I told them I had a hysterectomy on March 3rd & that was why so the bank manager will get an email tomorrow & will probably put back in then I won't be negative!
I messaged chewy wanting to return the Thunder ease diffuser & fortiflora because I need provibial DC & cosequin worse & to my surprise they are crediting my account instead of having me return it. Most of the time that's what they do but the last couple of times I've had to do a return which is fine with me. They both absolutely hate the beef & turkey & giblets fancy feast & they still had the plastic wrap on them so those got returned. I have a bunch of food to donate in the closet still just haven't found the time to do it.

Somebody is sliding in the 50s tonight :D we are at the end of our pen, hoping to get the am dose out of it rather than starting on a new vial, since momma has 2 houses to clean tomorrow!

Me & my bestie secured 2 new houses today :) we are up to 12 houses now!!!

Well either Panzer has cleared the bounce or me switching to shooting on his left side has brought him down into the greens...cat's

He has tomorrow & Monday morning left on his antibiotic & I plugged in the Thunder ease diffuser today!

Panzer puked in between +4.5-& +4.75 was @59@+4 checked him again @+4.75 thinking possible hypo was @56 will check again @+5.25

Well you already tried Amoxicillin and that didn’t work, as I recall? I don’t think you tried Ampicillin. I would refer the vet back to that list of drugs and see if he will try a different drug.

Okay that's a good idea, hopefully I can get a clean catch on Friday & take it up there in between the 2 houses I'm cleaning. He was hard to get a sample from last time but I will get one.
