Hi all, Willow is doing well, still eating and a good attitude, although quieter since the mirtz is wearing off. Gave her SQ fluids last night. She was getting constipated, but that seems to be clearing up.
Gave a 0.25U dose increase this morning. She's more blue than green now; I don't know if this is glucose toxicity?
I've spoken with a dentistry specialist to book a consult on the 1st in Ottawa, and if she needs dentistry and we decide to go ahead we'll have that on the 7th. I'm a wreck thinking of it. But if this is something that should be done, if something goes amiss I'm confident they're the most capable to deal with it. The local vet said the specialist wouldn't be able to get us in before we wanted to leave (waiting period), but I emailed the hospital myself and they called me back and said that because she's inappetent, they'll squeeze her in as an emergency (although I explained she wasn't anorexic, just periodically inappetent). Wonderful people
There's nothing like a dental specialist at home, many nearby vets don't even do routine dental radiography. I honestly don't think it's the base of her inappetence issues, but it will definitely (hopefully!) make her more comfortable, which is all we can do now. We had the option of also seeing an internist to try to get to the base of her problems, but we won't be around long enough to do any follow-ups at this point as we have to go back to NS. One thing at a time.
Hope you're all doing well and your kitties are surfing safely
With love, Nikki
