What we do for our little guys.

My last vet had an agreement with a traveling IM vet. She would come to different vets and had a van with US and other equipment. I wonder if there is something similar around there that might do housecalls. You'd think there would be enough pet owners in the area to justify it...

FWIW, the IM vet I saw did want records and some backstory of Jack before his first visit.

Vines for you and all you are going through and scritches and head bumps for the Giz.

Oh, sweetie! What a crazy few days you’ve had! And poor Gizmo!

Labs look great....nice and stable and you’ve done an awesome job on the P!!!

Potassium is stable. Next time the vet...if you see him again....says he’s near the end, remind him to treat the cat and not the numbers....although the numbers look really good. This is not a kitty in end stage renal failure.

I’m going to send @Tena and Curry (GA) a message. She’s in Houston and I believe she really likes her vet. However...I know how enormous Houston.....I want to say she lives in the vicinity of the Galleria but I could be wrong.

I actually believe Stacy is onto something and I would wonder about the possibility of a kidney infection. I’ve mentioned before that my Gussie had two on very separate occasions...about two years apart....and it was only evident on an U/S....not the C&S.

The likelihood of pancreatitis is there. The Precision PSL is not like th specfPL in regard to accuracy and his level is just barely above normal. It’s possible he’s got pancreatitis but hard to say definitively...again, u/s is the best way to know.

Sending you both tons and tons of vines and hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Maaaaan. That makes for some tough reading.
Sometimes I do not understand what happens to a vet. De-sensitised is all I can think.

I hope that yo can get hold of the treatment that you want for Gizmo. He is such atrooper.

He also has one of the best avatars y'know. I think I have said before how Vermeer it is. I LOVE it.

IDK. I might try talking with Dr. Jen on Friday to see if I can get AB. I read through Tanya's site this morning and read the same thing. The vet I saw yesterday and called with the lab results have basically washed his hands ("it is the end" yada yada - "end the suffering" yada yada). I told him as long as Gizmo was fighting I was going to fight for him.

I just am frustrated that I can't seem to get it through their heads that it is (may be) a kidney infection. Yes, could it be something worse (cancer) but they won't look at anything but the labs and urinalysis and nothing on those indicate kidney infection - even though they have admitted that kidney infections can sometimes be difficult to dx.

I am looking at this AB
https://felinecrf.org/treatments_antibiotics_painkillers.htm#enrofloxacin

It states that it is in pill form and less likely to have side affects.

I don't know what an IM vet is, Lizzie. What is such? I live in Austin, pretty far from Houston, but I have a friend in Houston. She's a major cat gal, so she may know someone better than your yada yada vet.

Can you tell me your mileage needs? Re how far can you travel, given the Houston traffic (famously terrible). It wopuld help[, too if you can PM me as to your exact location, so my friend can see whether or not she can help in vet recommendation.
