Sorry to hear about your car accident and injury. I missed it yesterday.
Ella is right about the rest, ice, compression and elevation. All will help to contain any internal bleeding and stop more swelling. But to be really effective it needs to be started as soon as possible after the injury. Keeping it elevated now as much as possible will help it resolve more quickly. Blood clots usually occur in the back of the leg in the calf, not the shin. Hope you are better soon.
Glad Furball is happy...they love to bounce don't they?

What does compression do for an injury? Thanks for the link.
It supports the injury to help it heal faster. It promotes circulation. It eases the pain.

Hi Carla, I hope you are feeling better today. TGIF and you have a whole weekend to take care of your leg!

Bounce back down to those nice greens (or blues), Furball.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Morning Carla :coffee::coffee::coffee:

What a nice cycle last night for Furball. I saw all that green late last night, sure was nice to see that. I will hope that she doesn't bounce too badly. Surf well little one.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well. And that you are feeling better.

Furball, I hardly recognized you last night at the lagoon! So nice to see you there. I hope you plan on making a return visit soon. Now stop that silly bouncing and settle down, please.

How lovely to come home to a safe green number, Carla! Darn those bounces! Hopefully you'll keep seeing more green and as Furball gets used to it, her liver will stop panicking. Sending anti-bouncing vines and vines for your leg. If you can walk and move about okay, it's probably a bruise, and ligament or tendon damage is unlikely. If it hurts to walk, it could still be just a bruise on the bone, but as Chris said, it would be a good idea to have it checked.

Well how about that Furball! Look at that green!

Vines for a short, low bounce and some of those pretty green colors again.

She surprised me with green again. I was having trouble getting blood and got a 42 at first. I tested again and got the 79.

ah yes...
compression sleeves....
I bet that would help you.... they are much easier to find now.... even walmart has them.
My husband sprained his ankle badly and it's almost back to normal, but he swears by his sleeve.

You should try that.

and how great that Furball is seeing green.... especially after you come home....

Wow - looks like a repeat today. Go Furball! :D:D I always retest the lows, sometimes 3 times. Always wakes me up.

Furball is feeling good. It will be interesting to see where she goes tonight.

I'm not sure a compression sleeve will work because the hematoma is a bump on my leg. I tried wrapping an ace bandage around it at work and it made it hurt because it was pressing on it.

Nice run of greens and blues for Furball! Glad he's feeling good tonight. Paws crossed for a nice surf!:D

I second @Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) 's compression recommendation. I've found a lot of benefit to the increased circulation for even minimal injuries. Plus, maybe it's psychological, but the injuried area being wrapped tightly makes me feel some relief. You might try some compression socks for diabetic humans, you can get them at most drugstores and they aren't as tight as a sleeve and stocking material. They may feel better with a little more give and increased circulation could help the hematoma disperse. As a die hard fan of my chiropractor, I also really like electronic stimulation for injury recovery. They always use high powered machines at the chiro before treatment sessions. I have this at home, my dad bought one for his back: truMedic TENS Unit. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it.

Thanks Patricia. I'll check into that. The diabetic socks sound like a good idea.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions for my leg.
