Hi everyone, Willow started great yesterday but went downhill, hiding a lot. Ended up giving her cerenia (I was planning to start weaning her off it) and mirtazapine, and she ate better all day and evening, but still hiding, also SQ fluids later in the night. She's peeing smaller amounts more often so bringing a urine sample in to vet this morning. Still hiding and peeing over the litter box.
Last night was pretty bad. She woke us up meowing at 4, thought it was the mirtz, then she hid under the bed but I saw a poop in the LB and she still hides after pooping so thought that might have been why she hid.
Meowing again at 4:30am, a bit drooly/wet on her bib...I saw another poop in LB...she went to her LB but turned away and I saw that at some point (probably before 4) she'd peed over the edge and soaked the pee pad I keep outside, and didn't want to walk on it...before I could change it she peed on her bed-blankie. Then hid. Very stressed. Her BG was 187 (I double checked).
Hoped it would be down by this morning but at 203 AMPS (double checked on a new glucose monitor). Needed coaxing for both meals this morning, so gave cerenia and gabapentin (I'll just adjust insulin for any increase in BG).
Hope you all had a good night, and wishing you and your kitties a great day of safe surfing :) With love, Nikki

I hope Willow feels better today. Are you still giving the D-Mannose? Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug:
Hi Carla, thanks :) Yes, she's getting D-mannose and corn silk extract.

The vet refuses to prescribe antibiotics without seeing her because it's been 2 whole weeks since she was in (sarcasm) so we now have an appointment for this afternoon.

With love, Nikki

I sure hope Willow feels better!
Willow sounds a lot like my Peggy Sue. (She'll be 17 in June.) She's eating a little bit but she's very thin.If I didn't give her the CBD oil I don't think she'd eat at all.She started hiding when I started giving her more Supplements.
Even now when I reach to pet her she backs up & looks at my hands to see if i have a syringe. She gets D-Mannose once a day, slippery elm & cbd in baby food.I think she's just tired of me squirting something in her mouth.
I really hate to think I'm making her miserable. When Peggy Sue was drooling the vet said it was probably due to Toxins building up . She had high Liver enzymes .( I recently read that CBD could cause high liver enzymes!! )
She also gets Ringers once a day for a week then I stop for a week.

He told me the only way to find out if she has Liver cancer is to do an ultra sound & if he sees a lump do a biopsy. At 17 yrs of age I won't put her thru that. If it is cancer there's not much they can do anyway.

It never gets easier, that's for sure :(

Poor girls. I'm so lucky, Willow takes most of her meds/supplements in foods, so she doesn't associate me with meds. We sprinkle her d-mannose in canned food, as well as her slippery-elm powder (different meals, though) ... Peggy Sue must be fussier :( Even when Willow is inappetent, at least so far, we're managing to get her to eat most of her meals. It'll be a different story if she goes completely off food. She's also great with the SQ fluids, which shocked me.
No it doesn't get easier.
I hope Peggy Sue feels better. With love, Nikki

Good luck at the vet. I'm sorry Willow isn't feeling well but I hope something positive turns up for both of you.
Thanks everyone :) We saw a new vet today, and she was lovely. Willow's u/a showed an infection and glucosuria (I still have no idea what caused that spike in her bg, she's had much more obvious pain before, and stress, and her bg was always pretty stable), but no proteinuria, yay! This vet suggested using baytril again but for a longer course (30 days) which is exactly what I had planned to request if necessary, so I'm happy with that. Started baytril tonight, hopefully she'll have a better night and improve quickly. Thanks so much to you all for your thoughts and prayers! With love, Nikki
