Yesterday's excitement of starting the OTJ trial!

Last night was funny - Ivana had her dinner and then waited for hubby to give her the shot. She must have got bored of sitting still, because then she came and sat next to the testing basket so she could get a treat. She's so darned cute I had to give her one of course :cat: Then her testing alarm went off at +2 as I'd forgotten to turn it off - guess I'd better give her another treat seeing she's looking at me so expectantly!

I was so nervous doing Ivana's test this morning - I even had a dream (nightmare?) overnight that she got 129 this morning haha. Turns out I didn't need to worry as she's still green :D Rock on, Banana Girl!

Go Ivana!

I'd better fill you guys in on how Ivana got the nickname Banana... When I was growing up, there was a kid's show called Bananas in Pyjamas. Not sure if it ever made it outside Oz. It was basically two adults in banana suits with their legs sticking out the bottom, and they were named B1 and B2. The theme song for the show went like this:

"Bananas in pyjamas are coming down the stairs,
Bananas in pyjamas are coming down in pairs,
Bananas in pyjamas are chasing teddy bears,
'cause on Tuesdays they all try to catch them unawares!"

It was a catchy tune, I'm sure it's on YouTube if you really want to listen to it ;) Anyway, we used to live in a house with stairs, and one day Ivana was walking down the stairs at the same time that hubby's son was watching Bananas in Pyjamas and the theme song was playing. So I started singing "Ivana the banana is coming down the stairs" and it just stuck from there. Actually now that I type all this, it's a pretty boring story haha! But that's the reason behind the nickname :-)

Off to a great start, Ivana! Keep up the good work! ....and I still do the same testing routine with Mandarin every day. Since I test Walter all the time, Mandarin still hears the beep from the meter and runs to his testing spot, looking at me expectantly. So I pet him for a while, play with his ears and give him his treat before I then go on to test Walter. :)

I'm feeling very strange about not testing... it gets easier to let go, right?
Right now I'm still testing once a day since my vet asked me to. I'm planning to do that until her next vetty visit (which will be 6 months) and then I'll see. It was very strange at first not to test all of the time. Furball still runs to her testing spot for AMPS and PMPS tests. I just love on her and give her treats for the AM time since PM is when I test. It did get easier to not be spot checking during the day. I am afraid if I got to weekly testing I will start forgetting to test because I am not in the habit of testing all of the time. It is really nice to be able to go out though and not have to worry about is Furball dropping.
