Last post a month ago - gee time went fast!
G'day to my FDMB family, both kitties and beans - sorry it has been so long between posts, goodness life gets away from you sometimes!
All is well down under, and even though I haven't posted for a while we've still been testing Ivana weekly and she's still a lovely shade of green
Thankyou Mr Pancreas for not lying down on the job.
1 year ago today was Ivana's very last shot of juice, and the memory came up on my Facebook today. I remember hubby and I were planning to go out to lunch and then see a play, but our little girl threw a curveball (what a surprise lol) and dropped to 2.3, so we skipped lunch, made sure she was safe, and just went to the play. I remember reading the replies to my condo during the play trying not the let the light from my phone annoy anyone, but I just had to know if the consensus was for her to start her OTJ trial - and the answer was Yes, and I'm pretty sure I punched the air during a particularly tense scene between Catherine and Heathcliff haha And the rest is history
On to the WCR: Miss Ivana has been trudging along very well - no health updates to give (which is good!), except that we really need to be careful to make sure she always has something in her tummy or she vomits due to her CKD issues. We have in the past gone the route of "If she's hungry she'll eat it eventually" but we need to not do that at all, as she is stubborn like her mother and will refuse to even touch it if we choose the 'wrong' flavour food for that meal. So we've decided that if she hasn't touched it within the hour, then the chickens get her rejected meal and she gets another. It seems to be working so far, though I think she's trained us in this regard so that she always gets what she wants - typical cat!
We are starting to come into autumn here and the weather is cooling down, meaning Miss Fur-a-lot needs lots of combing to keep those nasty furballs at bay. She's really good at sitting still for her fur-styling sessions these days, she never used to like it. We use a Furminator on her which is amazing at getting all her loose hairs out of her thick coat.
Ivana is still not real keen on the toothbrushing, which means we're not getting a perfect clean (particularly at the back) but we're doing what we can in that department and it's always better than nothing I suppose. At her last vet check the vet said her teeth were looking great, so that's good.
Here is my little superstar enjoying the fresh air and sunshine after a particularly long spell of rain (it rained for 2 weeks non-stop). I can't believe she even let her bottom get wet haha
Hope all kitties and beans are well!
