03/30 KOBE AMPS 84; +6 81; OTJ TRIAL TONIGHT?!

Thanks, Tim!

Do you mean how consistently did I deliver a ridiculously small drop of insulin over 14 cycles? I think I did surprisingly well. I had to devise an alternate method for getting the same amount of insulin to come out every time, because I only got the real way to work once. :arghh:

I filled a bunch of syringes to the bottom of the Zero line, (that's where I measured my .01 U) and slowly emptied them into the sink counting each drop. I somehow got two drops every time. So, every time I shot, I'd fill to the bottom of the zero line, burn a drop in the sink, and shoot the rest. This was the only thing I could think of that was repeatable.

I just have to trust in my "super precise kitchen sink science" because I couldn't really feel the plunger move for a shot so miniscule. :D:D:D

I’m not so sure that you won’t need a drop dose seeing some blues. Let me run it by a few others.

I'm confused. I have been giving a drop for 14 cycles. Do you mean continue drop dose for a while longer?

My husband and I talked about extending drop dose for 10 more cycles and starting the trial over the next weekend when we'd be home... we could do that, for sure.

Thanks for helping us make the best decision for Kobe!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Lol. It’s a team decision.mods need to weigh in.

Okay, well, thank you to the team!

I had posted this before but deleted it because you didn't get a definite answer whether to start the OTJ Trial so I'm posting it again
OTJ instructions

  • Start the trial on the next green pre shot.
  • If she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time; just feed small meals and go about your day. If she is blue at your normal "PS", feed a small meal and test again after about 3 or 4 hours. If her number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then the pancreas is working!
  • Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. She may have a sporadic blue number. Don't panic but post before you decide whether to shoot so we can have a discussion.
  • After 14 days of no insulin, we have a party!!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens; we just give her the support needed. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Once she/ he is through the trial successfully, you enter a new phase. Your cat is still diabetic but has now become diet-controlled. Continue feeding low carb food in the manner successful for your kitty. If you decide to change her/ his feeding schedule, let your meter be your guide to the best times to feed. Avoid medications with sugar in them and steroid medications unless they are medically essential. Continue testing blood glucose weekly for the first month and then monthly forever. It's a good idea to weigh her monthly. Weight should remain stable. If she seems "off" or sick, or is showing signs of diabetes (excessive drinking, eating, urinating, weight loss), test her blood glucose right away. Keep the teeth and gums clean and healthy; dental issues can bring a cat out of remission. If you see risingblood glucose numbers, it's time for a visit to the vet!

When you start it you post everyday and instead of putting AMPS you will put AMBG and PMBG for the night test.
You will also put a blank line above the date you start it and put OTJ Trial and highlight it

So if you start tomorrow or tonight on your title you would put the Date AA AMBG # OTJ Trial Day 1
So we can follow along

They say if you get a blue AMBG or PMBG get another test @+3 to see if it's green

Best of luck Lesley and Kobe :cat:
