I took Milo back to the vet this morning for more IV fluids. He is just not getting any better and I guess his temp. is now dropping. They are going to run more test and x-ray him to see if his organs are shutting down. I just can't believe he went from this fun loving active cat to dying on me in 4 days. The vet indicated that if his organs are shutting down, he has little hope of making it. The vet is wondering if something besides the diabetes was causing all of this. I am just having a hard time understanding how all of his tests could come back fine on Thursday and now we may be loosing him.

I wish I could offer some helpful treatment advice. I can only say to love every minute you have with him and hope the blood work and xrays give you hope and treatment options. Our cats are fighters, don't give up hope. Sending you and Milo lots of hugs and healing vines. (((((((((Kelly and Milo))))))))))

(((Kelly))): sending tons of mega healing vines to Milo and comfort vines for you. I hope they can find out what is going on.....it just doesn't make any sense. Are there any specialists you can get him to or your doctor can consult with? Thinking of you both. Come on Milo...get better!!

Could you summarize what's been going on and post on Health? The vet techs that are there may be able to offer some additional insight.

Sending snowflakes and vines. I really hope this is something that is resolved soon.

Have they checked his potassium? Check with Jennifer of Jennifer and Tucker as I think Tucker became really ill with low potassium. Blood pressure been checked?

It's truly awful just how quickly they can get sick - but sometimes it's also equally amazing, how they can turn the corner and start to come around... come on Milo, start to get better...!!

I'm very sorry about Milo. I hope he makes a big turn around towards recovery. It seems surprising for all this to have happened so quickly.

have they checked his HCT? is he anemic?...just throwing stuff out there for you to ask the vet

The vet called about 2 hours ago with the results of Milo's blood work and x-rays. It appears his organs are shutting down and his temp. keeps falling. From the x-rays, they determined he has bronchitis and a gastric outflow obstruction. I guess there is a large mass in his stomach. They don't know if it is cancer or something is blocking it, but the vet said that even if it was a blockage, she didn't think he would be strong enough to survive the surgery. I decided to bring Milo home to spend some time with him. I guess to really say good-bye. He doesn't seem to have any fight in him at all. None of the normal Milo spunk. I am waiting on DH to come home to make a decision on whether to stop Milo's suffering. He is currently wrapped in a blanket on a heating pad on our bed and isn't responding to my loving on him at all. This is such a hard decision and it is breaking my heart. So hard to think back to when we were celebrating Milo being OTJ, to him rebounding, to this. My DH was not a cat guy before we met, but Milo totally changed that and became his "guy". I think DH may take this even harder than I am. Thank you for all your kind words and loving thoughts. Both Milo and I appreciate it greatly!

Kelly I am so very very sorry. There simply are not words. I know in your heart you will make the right decision for Milo. You will be in my heart and my thoughts.
 
(((Kelly))) this is just heartbreaking and not what anyone wanted to hear. Sending prayers to you, DH, and Milo to help you through this very difficult time.
 
Kelly and Milo... I don't know about your story other than what i just read, but my heart certainly goes out to you and milo and DH. Milo is so very lucky to have a bean like you. I pray that you and your DH find peace in the decisions you'll be making. Milo knows how very much you love him and that you are doing everything possible to help him and he'll let you know when it's time.
