03/22 SINVER. Any advice?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for advice, but since you all know my cat, I'd like to ask if you know of any supplements or types of food I could give him to increase the muscle mass in his hind legs. I would be grateful for any advice. :bighug: 😘
Is this caused by neuropathy?

Hello, in September he had to go to the vet for an emergency appointment because he could barely walk on his hind legs. The vet said the blood tests were fine, that it could be a urinary tract infection or diabetic neuropathy. He based his diagnosis on that result without doing any tests. He told me that Lantus wasn't regulating the cat's blood sugar and that perhaps that's why he was developing diabetic neuropathy. Currently, I'm giving him a vitamin complex of B6, B12, and B9 on my own; I give him one pill a day. The cat walks well now, but it's true that when I touch his hind legs, they feel very thin, as if he has no muscle. He used to be a great climber, and since that relapse in September, he hasn't climbed anything at all. If he wants to get on the sofa or the bed, he doesn't jump up like he used to; he climbs up with his front paws. He doesn't go up to his scratching post like he always did, and his movements are slow. His legs aren't as swollen as they used to be. He has diabetic neuropathy, but his legs are normal. I thought I'd help him with some extra supplements to help him gain muscle mass.

Does sound like neuropathy for which methylcobalamin B12 and getting the BG regulated helps. Wondering if there could also be some arthritis as well?

It seems the vet mentioned arthritis in the spinal x-ray. I give him one vitamin a day, but the forum recommends two for neuropathy. Do you think I should try it? I thought there might be some food to help him gain weight or some supplement. His vertebrae are very prominent, but he's always the same weight. I asked for a recommendation.

Yes, they are the ones you mentioned, but instead of a single 1000mg dose, they recommend several doses of pills, which is why I'm asking if one is enough or if I should give him more? It's exactly the ones you mentioned in your message. He weighs about 4.8 kg; before, when he wasn't diabetic, he weighed about 6.5 or 7 kg. The truth is, since he had that relapse in September, he's thinner. Although he never lost his appetite; in fact, he's always begging to eat, both your food and the food of the other cats, and also human food when we sit down to eat.
