03/22 KOBE - Nice Greens on 0.1 U - Start Drop Dose 03/25?

Previous Post

Happy Saturday! Kobe's had beautiful greens for 10 cycles so far at 0.1 units of Lantus. The plan is to start the drop dose on 03/25/25 after 15 cycles of 0.1 units.

When you look at his numbers, do they support the reduction to the drop dose or should we keep the 0.1 unit dose?

If you think we should stay at 0.1, could you say for how long, or until we see certain numbers for his BG?

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Looks good to my inexperienced eye! 7 days in mostly greens then a reduction. I think another good question would be does Kobe even need the drop dose?

I didn't know that was an option... If he doesn't need the drop dose, that would be amazing for my schedule as I am on Spring Break this week. It would be much easier for me to check on him during the day... Thank you for the question. I'm pumped to hear the answer.:D

I hope I didn’t get your hopes up for nothing! I’m just speculating, but they might say because he’s relatively new to regulation to see what the drop does. Let’s see :D

No shot or drop dose, we are so grateful for how well he is doing. Please don't worry. The hope is there, but it's tempered. We want what is best for Kobe, not my schedule. But, if the two aligned, that would be fantastic. :woot:

What a sweet pic :kiss::kiss:

Kobe is doing amazingly well. :D:D:D. Are you still feeding kibble?
I would check back again on 3/24 to see if a drop dose is the way to go.

Thank you, I will check again on the 24th!

The short answer is yes. The long answer is that we were transitioning to all wet in December, (he was down to 5 grams of kibble for his shot and wet food for the rest of the day) when he started getting Ketones and ended up in the hospital. He likes wet food, likes to lick it and move it all around, but he isn't very effective at getting it into his belly. There was a lot of concern about how much he was eating, so to combat the Ketones, we upped his Kibble to 15 grams. He was stuck for a while at the beginning of this year, so around the end of February, Dean and I decided to try a GLACIALLY SLOW reduction in Kibble. We reduced his kibble by just a half a gram, to 14.5. And if you look at Kobe's Spreadsheet, the effect was immediate and drastic. He has had amazing results in March. We decided to stay at 14.5 grams of kibble so that we weren't changing his diet and dose at the same time. But his dose keeps going down! We intend to slowly reduce kibble. I think we just rushed it before, and it didn't go great. I mix extra water into Kobe's wet food and he has a water fountain that he loves to drink out of right after we put ice cubes in it. We do our best to help his kidneys. Probably more than you wanted to read, yikes!
