Not sure how he's so low at +2 53. He already ate but I left out more food, he wasn't interested so I rubbed some corn syrup on his gums. I think he's going to be difficult for me today.
 
Uh oh...someone means business here this morning. The corn syrup will give him a big bump...but that'll only last for an hour or so. What time is his nadir? He may need a little help to surf today...sounds like he's healing. Great news on the pee front too!

Hey Brittany, I hope he comes up and stays there for you, how did Saturdays visit to the vet go, were they able to shorten the cone at all

I shortened the cone and they weren't pleased with my choice since they were worried it wasn't tall enough to block him from scratching his ear. We bought another shorter cone from them which works really well.

Yeah, I know. He still won't eat for me though. More corn syrup for him. Actually as I'm typing this he decided to go grab a few bites. Hopefully that will raise him to a safer number.

I've actually been thinking about that for a few weeks. I'm thinking maybe after he's healed and not stressed and hurting anymore that he might go into remission. He is obese and used to eat dry cat food so he already had a high chance of getting diabetes. I'd say his ear could've either added to the probability if not directly caused it.
 
So, I was thinking of offering him some milk since most cats are lactose intolerant I thought it might get his bowels moving or a little vegetable oil. What do you guys think?

how about a probiotic (humans take this when on antibiotics to add "good flora" that the antibiotic takes out)......or some fish oil?
 
He still hasn't finished his dinner. Probably noticed the medicine again as he only ate a few bites then left it.
Just went to eat Hidee's food instead because he's hungry.:rolleyes: I put his food on her plate to trick him and I think he's eating it a bit now. Something is better than nothing. Hoping he'll eat it all eventually.
Still no poop but he did pee twice today. Every time he pees it dribbles afterwards and is squatting down so much that his bottom gets covered in pee and litter. Is this a side effect from the catheter?

@Darcy and Jonesy I remember you said your cat lost half an ear due to frostbite. Did he have to have surgery to have it removed? If so what was the healing process for him like. I know ECID but having a little insight about how well it heals would be nice. Also, what did his ear look like after it was healed?
 
So, I syringe fed a little bit of vegetable oil, maybe that'll hydrate his colon so that he can poop. I also gave him some fresh LC FF which he immediately ate 99% of. I'm not trashing his dinner he didn't eat just yet because it had his medicine in it. I'll add it to some to fresh food so that the food and medicine isn't wasted hopefully. It still smells good and was kept in the fridge, I think he could smell the medicine so back to giving it through the syringe despite losing over half of it when I do that or maybe if I add it into his water he'll consume it. We'll see. His cycle looks good so far.

That +9 52 came out of nowhere. Gave a bite of HC which he happily ate. That should raise him to safe numbers.
