I discovered the ProZinc is toast, AGAIN.
I had some NPH from the time the last ProZinc bottle that wimped out, so I gave her 1 unit of the NPH to help get the glucose down.
I am annoyed; this bottle is barely 2 months old, if that.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the longevity of the Prozinc. I know you've said it works better to use an in and out insulin with your hectic schedule. Hope the next bottle lasts longer for you.

This time, I'll draw the insulin up in the kitchen, put the bottle away, and then go test and shoot after pushing out any excess.
That way I won't leave it out or forget it in my pocket.

Sorry for your bad experience, BJ... as if managing a diabetic kitty isn't enough stress in itself! I'm curious as to the expiration date of your bottle. Being that Hannah is a ProZinc kitty, your post gives me cause for concern. The last bottle that I purchased has an expiry date of June 2015. Since I just got it in March, I wasn't very happy to discover that... especially at $100 a pop. This has obviously happened to you before. Where do you purchase your ProZinc? We get it from our vet, so I'm thinking he's getting rid of the vials that will expire first. I've seen posts (can't remember where) that said insulin is still good after its expiration date, but now I'm starting to question that. Maybe that's not the case with ProZinc?

Well, instead of editing my above post, decided to add another thread. Have been keeping track of Hannah's numbers all day and her numbers are worse than usual. We are on day two of her new bottle of ProZinc and now I am wondering if we also have a wimpy bottle. Just when it looked like we were making some slight progress a few days ago on what was left of the old bottle, we now seem to be back to square one and I echo BJ's !@#$%. Frustrated and scared for my sugar baby, to say the least. Does starting a new bottle ever require a few days of adjustment? I sure am hoping so. Of course, this is the bottle that I dropped when I first brought it home, so in the back of my head, I'm wondering if it was damaged after all. Any other thoughts out there from ProZinc users?

Oh no! That stinks you are both having problems with your ProZinc.

@Blamethecats and Hannah I opened a new vial of ProZinc on February 2nd and didn't notice a difference in Buds numbers. But, having said that, it was during a time I was slowly increasing trying to find a good dose for Bud as I wasn't seeing good numbers anyways. I went from dosing 1.2 to a fat 1.2 with the new bottle and I started getting better numbers so I almost think the new bottle helped. :( sorry I didn't have better news. It's scary to think that just dropping it could potentially ruin a vial. I mean you never know how it was handled before you took it home!

The new bottle appears to be fine. And Gracie seems happier, too. Or that might be the catnip fish I brought her!
