I just finished watching some video about my jury duty in one week. Luckily the court is only about 1.5 miles from home, so I can run home to test and feed at lunch break.

I have to work today, but will try to read more in the Acromegaly / IAA forum after work, so I can discuss it with his vet at his appointment tomorrow after work.

Marje, can you please take a look at his blood work and urinalysis in the Labs tab and let me know if anything stands out to you?

Is Jackson still peeing loads? Is he drinking?

I think some of the labs might suggest he's a wee bit dehydrated, I might add a bit of water to his food to supplement his drinking and keep him better hydrated. George was always a god drinker but I always added more water to his snacks. He was a good eater and he didn't mind his food soupy.

He rarely drinks water from his bowl and even then only for a few seconds. All his food has lots of water added. He does fine with soupy food. I usually only see him pee about once a day. The litter box is in the livingroom where I can see it from the couch and is located less than 2 feet from my leg when I am working.
His last blood work in December was when I suspected diabetes.
I started ramping up his food and water intake in January when he had those ketones.
I have to go back to work now...

On his Dec labs, besides the glucose, the two things that really stand out to me are his high Ca and his high CardioPet Pro BNP. Most of the other things which are high are not that high or are not that significant.

Insofar as the Ca, I’d see what the next test looks like as that could have just been a one-time thing. If he’s high again, you’ll want to have his ionized Ca checked.

The CardioPet ProBNP is a screening tool for cardiomyopathy. If he’s high again were my kitty, I’d see if I could get him into a cardiologist for an echocardiogram of his heart especially considering the potential for acro as those cats can often have enlarged hearts. I know you’ve discussed it with Wendy but considering his dose and his hunger, I’d get the acro/IAA tests run.

If his appointment is at 5:00pm, do you think they can still over night the blood samples to MSU that late?

I tried to read some of the information in the Acro / IAA forum and a lot of it is dated 2009. Hasn't there been changes since them?
 
They can always freeze the blood. I don't know if they will courier that late, don't know what's available where you are. I've tried to update the Stickies information so it's not wrong. There has been a change in how they test the IGF-1 at MSU, so they can run it more than once a week and not as much a worry getting it there by Tuesday. Also, they've changed the measurements scale.

I want to copy and paste some stuff for my vet in case she doesn't know.

She already recommended two cardiologist to me, when I was told to get an echo before starting fluids. So, instead he has been getting lots of water in his food.

This afternoon I was running out of time to get some lunch for me, so glopped some spoonfuls of coleslaw into a bowl. I turned my back, and Jackson was up on the counter chowing down on my coleslaw.

Yikes. Not good!!!! I’m glad you are going to get into a cardiologist.
