I agree. I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned that since Lantus onsets around +2 for many, getting a test then is like a crystal ball into the cycle. That way you can feed to avoid dropping too fast. Both big drops and lower than used to bg can lead to a bounce.

Thanks! I will try to get some +2s the next few cycles. Would you say the drop he had today is too quick, or is that an expected change in 5hrs? I think his nadir is actually closer to +5 than +6, but I will check +6 tomorrow.

I can’t tell. If a gradual drop that’s what you want.

Ohhh, so just because he came down from 430 to 232, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was gradual, is that what you are implying? It is possible it could have dropped quickly, which potential could lead to a bounce?

Yes. What is your feeding schedule?

Ohh, okay. I understand, thanks!

1.5can FF with his AM shot.
1.5can FF +9.
Snack with PM shot
Snack around +2 / +3 in the PM cycle.

If you can I would not wait until +9.5 for a snack. It’s best to feed another around +5-6 and skip +9.5. Feeding much after nadir can bump up the pmps.

thank you!!
I’ve considered switching to the following schedule, but have been trying to minimize changes, to get good comparable data. Sounds like I should make this change. Maybe tomorrow I will try the following:

1.5 can FF with AM shot
1 can FF +5 or +6
0.5 can FF with PM shot
0.5 can FF around +2 / +3 of PM cycle

Sorry for all the questions! Really appreciate your help.

Don’t apologize for asking questions. That’s how you learn. I think that’s a better feeding schedule.

@tiffmaxee his PMPS was 452, and at +1.75 (he was hungry so I wanted to test before I fed) he was 398. Is this what you one could expect with a gradual decline? Thanks :)
