(((((((Cheryl))))))) Stu's little box with his ashes is on top of our piano now, a place he used to like to sit. He used to rummage through the Xmas cards there, and had "his" favorite card, a photo card that he would always seek out and lick!! (over the years it got pretty crummy). This card is now next to his box, together with his favorite toy mouse. Alice, Stu's predecessor, is in her box on top of the piano, too (she loved classical music). When Stu came to live with us, one of the first things he did was to jump up on the piano. Alice's toy mouse was next to her box of ashes. Stu, who had been bouncing around the apartment, became very still for about a minute. Then he took Alice's mouse down to the floor and played with it. I always looked on this as a "passing of the torch".
This spring, when the ground thaws, we are planning to bury Stu's ashes next to his catmint plant, his favorite place in the garden. He spent so much time next to that plant that he wore a depression in the soil!
So I guess what I am struggling to say is that Miss Witty is always with you and now she is also home. You will find that special spot for her.
