Almost feeling guilty at Sammers ss...it's just soooo beautiful!! And green is my favorite color! But like I said, "almost". ;-) And hey Julie, stalk on! Just keep it to that, k? :lol: Best wishes to all of you and your furry friends out there, esp the ones who need a lil extra lovin. Just so y'all know, I really do want to post more often on your condos but life is just getting in the way right now, just not enough time for everything! I went thru a time where i felt kind of bad posting all the good things with Binks...
but then I realized that it's actually encouraging to see kitties come out of the bad days into the healthy ones! :-D

Hey Donna!! You are exactly right...his SS is looking absolutely stunning. So.......

What would you think about starting Sam on an OTJ TRIAL? :-D :-D :-D We think he's ready!!

Here are the instructions:

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If Sam is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
  • If, after 2 weeks Sam has stayed in normal numbers, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Congratulations and we will all be cheering him on!!!

REALLY?!! OMG, ohmygod_smile whadaya mean, "what do I think about it"...OF COURSE!! I wasn't sure if I should wait a couple more days to have 14 straight cycles of green, but hey, you are the experts here! This is so exciting! But no worries, after the last disappointment when I though we could do it earlier but was advised against it, I've come to learn it just takes time. And so far Sammy has been coming along very quickly. But if we have to go another round or two, we can do it. His new auto feeder is working wonderfully. He gets 6 small meals per day at the same times. My husband just cracks up when that thing goes off cause it's like no matter where Sam is, he's like a lightening bolt flashing past you. Didn't take him long to figure it out! I finally got his food amount figured out so he's getting what he should, although he still looks at me just in case there's more. confused_cat You all are amazing and such a wonderful support. It's nice having these kind of "stalkers" for friends! :lol:

Sam has been showing some inverted curves the past few cycles, which is a good sign that he is probably ready now. Good luck!

Wow, such encouragement from all Sam's stalkers!! So, what can I say, I just HAD to shoot that 99 this evening. You know, kind of a "just to be sure" sorta thing that comes with the nerves of an OTJ trial. But tomorrow it begins!!! nailbite_smile nailbite_smile nailbite_smile
 
Great news! Of course I'm a little bit jealous but Celi is right it is really encouraging to see others getting there, besides which we can not begrudge another kitty getting better! Fingers and paws crossed for you guys.
