He was trying to fight me last night for testing and a little this morning. Ear must be sore. Didn't want his PM shot yesterday, walked away and wouldn't eat his food when I first trying to inject it. Gave him his food elsewhere then tried again with no problems. Did well this morning with it though. Good appetite.
Setting up a vet appointment to check on his right ear, it's not improving and I don't want it spreading if it's skin cancer. I've given it weeks to heal with medicine and it did improve at first but it's just not getting any better now. I thought it might improve where his numbers have lowered but it's not.
Going to discuss surgery at the appointment to have some or all of his ear removed. I'm filled with regret for not finding a new vet and getting an appointment scheduled sooner when it first popped up a few months ago.
Perhaps it would've just been the treatable solar dermatitis and healed with medicine. Of course the week before his appointment the little ulcer appeared, I left it too long untreated to progress to cancer. I hope with surgery it will be gone for good.
Feeling a little down the past few days. I worry about Thomas' health. I need to get Hidee in for a yearly check up as well to get her labs and shots updated. I hope she's healthy.
Hoping all is well with everyone this Tuesday.:)

I hope it works out for LT on that ear situation...poor baby. I've dealt with a number of skin cancers...hopefully it'll all get sorted out soon.

You are doing a wonderful job mama bean! Have a good day...

Thank you everybody for your kind words! I have an appointment scheduled for Friday. Let's hope he's healthy enough for surgery.:bighug:
One thing I was curious about is that they've never done a scrape test, swabbed for cultures, or drawn fluids from his ear, they just suggested a biopsy which is going to cost the same to have that surgery as a surgery to just remove it all. Perhaps they can't get enough cells for a proper diagnosis with just a scraping and such which makes sense. They do try to save us money and may think that it's an unnecessary cost.
Honestly a great vet so far, they make a print out of everything beforehand to show much it'll cost without us even having to ask. Certainly a great help and they're nice even though Thomas is a little hellion. I think I'll ask to have his teeth checked as well because they have yet to do that at any of his appointments.
I think his +6 is high because he stole Hidee's food a couple hours before. He's pretty carb sensitive so that seems to be the best guess since his AMPS was low. Gave him a poke break this morning since he's been fighting me.

Looks like he's staying in the high 100s unless I'm just missing his lowest point during his cycles. I believe it's time for a dose increase. What do you guys think?

Any chance of getting a mid cycle spot check at night? It looks like he probably went green the night of the 1st. I think you'll be OK to increase, but you might have to really watch what he does at night.

I usually get a +4 or +5. Sometimes +6 but he's usually asleep in my brother's room so I can't test him then. He gets fed at +4 so his +6 is usually high. I agree that without food his +6 would've been below 100 on the 1st but he ate only 2 hours before so it's unlikely. A +7 may be better but he may already be rising by then. Do you think I should hold longer. Just trying to get an idea before his AMPS. Thank you.
