He seems to be clearing his bounces pretty fast.

Decided not to do a reduction this morning now I am almost wishing I had because he went right back down today, making me think he is going to be going low either tonight (please no! I need some sleep) or tomorrow. See how it goes and maybe reduce in the next day or so.

Buddy seems to be doing slightly better today, He did poop this morning. He is still wanting to stay in bed and not eating very much. I have a vet appt for him on Thursday as more of a "Quality of life" assessment. Last time we seen the doc a few months ago He did tell me that time was probably close and just to watch for him to look like he is in pain or not happy. I am afraid that time is now. I have been putting it off trying to find other reasons for him not being well but I think I have to come to terms.
 
I don't think he bounced yesterday, it looks more like he didn't get duration (all the food you had to give him to keep him from the sharks/lime greens).

Usually with a bounce you would see the numbers stay up for at least one cycle. In Buddies case he came up, because duration (insulin action over) was cut short, then as he onset he started to come back down again.

Last nights numbers may still have been driven by the depot of the 5.50 u being that it was cycle 4 since the previous reduction, and so that might have seen you struggle a bit more with trying to keep his numbers up.
With him dropping to 57 this cycle, I am wondering whether he is really after a reducie, he is probably going to give you a run for your money today.

It's a tough call I think with the reduction, as a longterm diabetic you want to see him drop three times, but he did make you work quite hard yesterday, and there is the depot (large at 5.5u) of the previous dose which is still influencing.
I think from what you have said you are aware of all of that, and will be watching him as you normally do.
Something has changed for buddy, to me it looks like he has not bounced for the last 6 days.

You could upload a video to youtube or vimeo and paste the link in your message. I've done that before.

I see what you are saying, Every time he goes low I have to prop him up so much and the duration is cut short. Makes a lot of sense. I will be keeping a close watch on him.
 
I'd have the vet check him out for arthritis. He looks stiff. Neko got quite bad arthritis with her acromegaly, so I got to try lots of remedies, some of which helped better than others. I think in the US Adequan is a good option. When Neko was hurting, she mostly stayed in her bed. When I got her on some pain relief (bupe in her case) she became a lot more interactive and active.

Paws crossed he stays up now. BTW, if you need to take a reduction to get some sleep, that's OK too. I often did "temporary reductions for sleep", that often stayed permanent. You have to take care of you too.

I almost bet that is some kind of Arthritis, when he first gets up he limps a bit. I will have that checked as well.
 
I got Neko a thick memory foam bed, she really liked it. Some like heat as well. There are all sorts of things that can help a bit, fish oil and Duralactin are anti-inflammatory, Adequan and hyaluronic acid (I used Hyaflex brand) help the joints, and the third piece was pain relief (buprenorphine, gabapentin). She also got regular acupuncture which helped put some pep in her step, and the acupuncture vet showed me how to do acupressure, which I did daily.
 
Sounds like maybe tooth problems too, poor baby. Might want to try to get the vet appointment moved up.

Oh a lot of great ideas, I wondered about gabapentin, we have some human version of it and I have seen mixed opinions on weather or not it can be used on a cat. of course I would not just give it to him without direction I will talk to the vet about all this!
 
We have a number of people giving gabapentin, some for pain relief, some to calm kitty before vet visits.
 
George has arthritis (osteo) just recently he has decide to start using the orthopedic bed I got him and he is suddenly coming upstairs in the morning to get us up for his breakfast all be it slowly.

If his mouth is sore it may affect his eating. We saw that with George, just before he needed his extractions. Blending his food and making it a purée allowed him to lap it up without chewing and he could get some food down him.

That was my thought on why he is not eating much, I have been making the pate more liquidy and that seemed to help a bit.
 
Delayed bounce? Neko always waited a couple cycles after the lows before deciding to go to higher numbers. Or he could be doing the high before the low. Stay tuned for that +2 to see what it is.
