well what a day! im just glad its over. I hate bailey crying 5/6 hours after his last feed knowing he cant have anything till he gets home from the vets. then of course you have the worry of ketones, the stress of getting him in the 'crush' cage, no weeing in the car today or outside but that's cos I put him his litter tray where he weed on demand 5 minutes before we left!

I got him back from the vets 2 and a half hours after he went in so not too long to stress but hes been shaved and a biopsy taken of this huge lump on his back (which looks even bigger now its been shaved) and has stitches wwhich thankfully hes not been bothered with. they've also taken xrays of his leg to see wwhy it keeps locking. im awaiting the phonecall from the vet tonight to see about that.

the good news................well I think its good news.correct me if im wrong but his fructosimine came back at 357. that's the best its EVER been in the whole year and a half weve been at this!!

I couldn't give bailey his insulin at normal time as he wouldn't eat when I got him home for about 3 hours. so decided on the 18 hour cycle just to be o the safe side. hes ok now and has eaten enough chicken tonight to feed a horse but I don't care. let him catch up on his missed food!

just all of you please keep your fingers and toes crossed(maybe your eyes) that this horrid lump is nothing nasty. im terrified its cancer. hes done so well these last few months this is the last thing he needs.xxx

Sending lots of "good vetty report" vines for Bailey!

And yes, you're right! That's a pretty nice fructosamine! Congratulations!!

Was there a reason why they didn't just remove the lump while he was under?

they didn't remove it cos its HUGE and the vet said he doesn't want to do such a big op if its not anything nasty......BUT the vets just been on the phone and he said hes not found any change on the xrays with his legs barr his hip joint has abit of wear and tear since the last xray which means now and again it could slip out but itll go straight in which is why his leg locks then suddenly hes fine.
so its just the waiting game now on this lump.it could be fri or even Monday before we find out!

Sending vines for excellent vetty results. I hope Bailey keeps on eating for you and it was just a stress thing.

Great news on the fructosamine - that's considered well controlled. :)

I know.can you believe the fructosimine! I was so excited when they told me I think they thought id gone mad but when my vet rang tonight he was nearly as excited as me.lol its been a long road!!!!

on the positive side of this horrid lump...................the vet said it didn't seem like anything horrid when they opened him up. it wasn't infection and it didn't look anything nasty BUT like he said we cant rule it out so the waiting game begins :-/

thanks to you all by the way to giving me the understanding of how lantus works and what the protocol is (or isn't as the case maybe) without it we wouldn't have got to where we are! just shows what you can do when you try hard!!!

were ok with the eating thing wendy. back on track. its 10 hours now since hes been home and to him like nothings happened.shaved all on his back and stitches but he hasn't a clue. not bothered AT ALL with his stitches so no collar..................for now!!!
