so, should I still get a +3?
side note cause im a worry wart nailbite_smile should I worry about him go to low, since this number is on the alpha trax? (irember a post a bit ago about a cat that wen too low w/o insulin?)

I've been feeding him ff 3% for 2 days-I did however today mix 1/2 can 4% with 1/2 3% <need to use up some of these other flavors :smile:
Also I bought pro plan 2% chicken and 3% turkey to see if that helps keeps him in the green, but ruben has sensitive GI, Is it okay to mix it in w/ the ff? and should I test more often that day to see how it effects him?
one last question, ruben and maple did not do well on the squash and i think ruben poo's have been a lil firmer, if i just want to give him a lil extra help, should i try pumpkin, or less squash <tho neithercats tummy did well, or go for miralx? if i do miralax how much? (again only want to give just enough to make poo one cylinder) again its not bad now but could use a nudge-i already add a lot of water.

Great to see an unquestionable lovely number! Can't advise on the foods/meds - but I wouldn't bother with
a +3 with that AMPS, specially on an AT... Others will let you know if I'm mistaken (not for the first, or last time ;-) )

he is not getting insulin so no worries on too low. if ya want, you can test and hour or 2 after eating to see if MR. P kicked in.
mirilax softens the poo up

do not know about food but I know a lot of cats can get liquid poo with canned food until they get used to it. I stay away from beef foods, mine will do well on turkey and giblets. But I make homemade raw and only 2 are on canned for kidney problems

I am responding here about your question regarding my post where I said I wasn't aggressive enough when Tiggy went OTJ last time. What I meant is that I wasn't aggressive enough when he started to come out of remission. I waited too long to put him back on insulin and I held the doses too long.

Part of the reason was I was busy planning my wedding but a big reason was that the first time Tiggy went OTJ I hadn't found this forum and had switched to low carb wet food and home testing on my vets advice only. He went into remission really quickly and I had hoped he would do the same a second time. He didn't.

way to go, Ruben!

If Ruben has a sensitive GI, I would probably try introducing just one new food at a time. Too many changes might be hard on his tummy. Two of my cats tend to have problems, and I've gotten to the point where I am only feeding two flavors.

Did he eat again after the furball? Did you retest in case it was just a "bad test"?

Yes, do re-test. And keep in mind that stress/sickness affects BGs.

oh carl....yes i retested and i believe he ate, i offered him a treat after the furball and just now and he took them.

oh I honestly can't handle any more stress in my life right now. going back to work next week and will not be here to test like I am.
please please please pray for him and me. ugh. hate that im a basket case when it comes to ruben.

This is Sam on the ledge, and this is us trying to talk her down...

If you are up for a couple of hours, test again and see the lowered number. Or wait till the morning to see it. (Power of positive thinking there...)

And the champagne is on ice, so if the party is delayed, it'll still be cold when we pop the cork.

ok, breathing....I think i'll get a +9.
wish he could talk, other than the fur ball he seems perfect.
it was mostly furball, then a lil after puke of just liquid (sorry so gross) but he get furballs so didn't think much of it.
looking for better feeling thoughts < inner dialog happen here
he made it doen to green this am, he can do it again

This is not a dangerous number for Ruben. It's just one you'd rather not see now. It could just be a puke/stress blip. Tomorrow will tell, and until then, nothing can be accomplished by worrying about it. Try to get some rest and think good thoughts, ok?

i know things you all tell me seem like i should know this, but honestly hearing it again from you guys make me be able to try to execute them. sorry for always needing talking down off the ledge but I instanly go to full on panic mode < which does not help anyone,me, ruben here. gonna feed 1tbsp of fresh a +9 then pull up, theres a part of me that wants to test then, but then another that doesn't want to so I can go back to sleep with out that pit in my tummy feeling.
when would you all test?

Don't test more than you normally would. You're gonna drive yourself (and maybe Ruben) nuts. If he's acting normal, leave him alone. Wait til morning.

not sure if we get to party or not now, but that doesnt matter. Im so grateful its a normal #
not sure if it was the furball or maybe he had a bad dream, but that 235 scared the crap out of me.

i woke with a super sore throat (possiible sinus infecion) < maybe ruben was just matching my own vibration? lol

Hi Samantha. For what it's worth.... my BigMac would have higher numbers right before he gorked up a giant hairball and later that day his numbers would be much better. Usually I would not know why his numbers were up because who can predict a hairball???
But I could tell a difference AFTER the hairball. ohmygod_smile

Not that this explains what Ruben is doing for sure, but I did see something similar for my kitty. Who knows?
But keep your spirits up, ok? It may have been just pre-hairball stress. I hope it was just that simple.

I like his +9 number!
Fingers and paws crossed for all good numbers from now on. :mrgreen:
