Is it possible people change times like instead of doing 12 hour cycles you do 13 hour cycles ? Would that make a difference ? So he doesn’t get too low too close to 50 ? Or is it just gojng to be the same either way ? He’s doing great I’m just trying to figure out a way where he doesn’t get too close to fifty like he does on the 4 -5 days when he’s depot kicks in ? Since he does do great on 2 units but after a few days he gets close to fifty ? Am I making sense ? Lol

I do 11.5 and 13 hour cycles when I work overnights, but it's less than ideal and not on purpose. The thing about Lantus being a depot insulin is that you often want to catch that tail end duration from that last insulin dose and ride it into the next onset. I get what you are saying about the range of numbers you are getting but ...it really looks good to me. I might try to feed the curve more and not try manipulating the duration time since I am not sure how that works when you are not technically draining the depot but just letting the duration run out- it that makes sense....:cool:

I'd be interested to see what other think as I am sure other folks have thought about ways to stretch out a dose to hold on to good numbers without riding too close to reduction territory.

What’s the difference in long acting and rapid acting insulin ? I have been reading and run across this because I have been trying my sugr app ( this app does not look like much at first glance... it does not look like it’s much to it but it is !! Looks rather silly at first glance but its great . CS has been great and I’m not a paying customer ? ) anyways it had two different insulin’s In it when I tried to add salems unit of insulin he took last night ? There was Bolus insulin and Basal insulin . Bolus is rapid acting basal is our long acting Lantus . what difference does it make if it works rapidly verses long acting ? Hmmm ?? Scratching my head now ? Learn something new everyday ? Is it better ? Or does it matter ? Why rapid acting ? Is it better ? What’s the purpose of wanting it to start the onset so fast ! ?? Would it not be more important that your insulin works longer verses working faster on its onset ?

Edit : I found an article explaining it ... read read read ... lol so much to learn you never stop learning .
