Surf safely, Dolly :cat: Did her meds go better today? And I saw you comment on Dolly & Jax SS - I love how some kitties are so similar on doses :p Hope you have a wonderful day, Adrienne!

Meds went okay. It’s so thick, hard to get in the syringe. Thank you for asking. Take good care and hope all well or has gone well with the dental. Have a great rest of your day after. :joyful::joyful:

Good Morning :):cat:
Wishing all the kitties out there good health and safe surfing
Sending healing prayers and hugs :bighug::bighug: to all the kitties that are not feeling their best
No pokes this afternoon. Ear is too sore and trying for the other ear stresses her out. Also, tried to give her, her pain meds and the medicine wound up on her neck and shoulder. Antibiotics are making her sleepy and affecting her appetite. Poor Dolly. I feel awful for her. :(

Oh dear. I'm sorry that taking care of Dolly is challenging these days. Sometimes I wonder how Ruby copes so patiently with all of my poking at her. :cat: I agree with Bhooma that probiotics may help Dolly feel better while she is on antibiotics. Big hugs, you're doing the best you can!

Are you giving her a probiotic with the antibiotics? Something like an S. Boulardii really helps.
Bhooma, I need your help. First she’s eating but overall today not great. Ate some dinner. Couple tsps Mc okay? Also, wanted to give her pain meds, Buprenex but didn’t know if that was a good idea with her number on the low side. I need advice. FortiFlora is a probiotic, not the best for sure.

Thanks Katherine. Dolly has been wonderful since October 2019, even in remission. It’s just been the last few months. Either I’ve forgotten how to poke or her ear is just over it. She gets FortiFlora every day but I know it’s not the best probiotic. I use it as a food enticer. Hope you and Ruby are doing well. Thanks for checking in. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Is there a strength for that probiotic and is it for cats only? Amazon has a lot of different ones.

Any of the brands with S. Boulardii is fine.

Maintenance dose is 2.5bn CFU per day. You can give 1.25bn CFU twice a day. I give it to Budge only once a day.

"Brands of S boulardii:

In the U.S. Jarrow is one of the most widely available. It is combined with MOS (mannanoligosaccharides) which improve its efficacy. Florastor is available in many large chain stores, but it contains lactose, which may exacerbate diarrhea in some cats due to the common lactose intolerance.

Walmart has a store brand very similar to Florastor, called Equate but without the lactose. Renew Life, carried by most Whole Foods stores, has two S boulardii products, one with larch arabinogalactan. Buy the one WITHOUT this ingredient. There are many brands of S boulardii available online: anything with just plan S boulardii in capsules of 3 billion CFU to 5 billion CFU will do."

she's still not eating her regular LC when she's low? if she hasn't eaten anything after that spoon of MC at +2.5, give her another spoon of it.
This antibiotic, 2nd dose today, has really changed her appetite these last two days. But when it comes to something she really likes, like gravy, never had it until diabetes. She ate mostly dry food. Anyway she seems to be able to get past no appetite. :p:p

She also knows when it’s test time late at night, under the table where I can’t really get her. I move towards her, she moves backwards. Hard to explain but she wins for awhile, sometimes a long while, then gets in her bed so I can grab her.

And normally she gobbles down her lc when she’s low.

Thanks Bhooma for rescuing us. Have a lovely day, keep the lights on and have fun with your girls with special attention to sweet Budge :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Do you think it's safe to go to bed if she has her food available?
